Director of Technology

You will ensure our technology capabilities, digital services, cyber resilience, data assets and systems architecture support sustainable growth, operational excellence and long-term competitive advantage.RequirementsYou'll be responsible for: Technology Strategy, Innovation and Future Capability:Defining the long-term technology vision, strategy and investment priorities for CBS. Determining how technology, data, automation and digital capabilities support future business growth and competitive advantage. Identifying emerging technologies, market developments and innovation opportunities that could shape the future of the business. Ensuring technology investment and capability development remain aligned to long-term organisational priorities. Championing technology as a strategic enabler of customer experience, colleague effectiveness, operational efficiency and business growth. Technology Performance and Enterprise Value:Establishing the technology performance framework that supports growth, scalability and long-term value creation. Defining technology investment priorities and capability roadmaps that deliver measurable business outcomes. Ensuring technology investment generates operational, commercial and customer value. Providing strategic insight and challenge to support Executive Board decision-making. Ensuring technology remains a strategic enabler of productivity, customer outcomes and organisational success. Technology Governance, Risk and Resilience:Maintaining strong technology governance, cyber resilience and information security across CBS. Defining the policies, standards, architectural principles and control frameworks that govern technology decision-making. Ensuring appropriate oversight of technology risk, compliance, operational resilience and business continuity. Protecting organisational assets, customer data and critical technology services through effective governance and risk management. Ensuring technology capabilities remain secure, scalable and aligned to business objectives. Data, Digital Capability and Technology Transformation:Defining the strategic direction for data, analytics, automation and digital capability across CBS. Shaping how data and technology support informed decision-making and organisational performance. Sponsoring major technology transformation programmes, investment initiatives and capability development. Determining future technology roadmaps, operating models and strategic priorities. Ensuring technology investments deliver measurable commercial, operational and customer benefits. Executive Leadership, Culture and Organisational Influence:Contributing to the strategic leadership of CBS as a member of the Executive Board, helping shape the direction, priorities and culture of the organisation. Building and leading high-performing technology teams and leaders, creating a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement. Developing future leadership capability and ensuring CBS has the technology expertise and digital skills required to support long-term growth. Championing technology-enabled innovation and continuous improvement across the organisation. Acting as a sponsor of organisational change, transformation and future capability development. Role modelling the CBS Values in your leadership, decisions and relationships. About you:You will be a commercially aware and strategically minded technology executive who understands how technology creates business value. Resilient, adaptable and an excellent communicator, you will be able to build trust and followership at every level. You will combine technical credibility with commercial judgement and strategic influence, creating energy and momentum regardless of the business environment. You will have the ability to balance innovation, risk, resilience and customer outcomes while ensuring technology remains aligned to organisational priorities and long-term value creation. Essential experience:Senior technology leadership experience influencing at Executive Board, Board or senior leadership level. Experience shaping technology strategy, digital transformation and organisational capability. Strong commercial judgement, market awareness and strategic decision-making capability. A strong understanding of technology governance, cyber security, data and digital transformation. Experience balancing innovation, resilience, risk management and commercial outcomes when making strategic decisions. Experience leading large-scale business change and technology-enabled transformation. Experience leading proprietary software development and digital platforms. Experience leveraging AI, automation and technology to improve efficiency, customer outcomes and organisational performance. Desirable experience: Experience implementing data, reporting and business intelligence strategies that support business growth and decision-making. Technology leadership experience within regulated financial services, automotive, leasing or customer-led technology environments. Experience overseeing technology compliance, audit, cyber security and information governance frameworks. A proven ability to build high-performing teams, develop organisational capability and create cultures that deliver sustainable growth. A strong track record of influencing strategic decision-making and balancing commercial opportunity, risk and long-term value creation. Experience leading technology modernisation, systems integration or large-scale platform transformation.
