Job Title: Director, Program ManagementJob Location: Blacksburg, VA (Relocation Assistance Available)Work Model: Onsite / Hybrid (Fridays Flexible)Project Duration: Permanent / Direct Hire - Mode of Interview: Virtual (Video/Technical) & Onsite Leadership RoundsPosition Overview:The Program Management Director leads the program management function across distinct business units within the Power and Data Division, supporting mission-critical applications across the Space and Defense sectors.

Reporting at the divisional level, this executive role establishes standardized processes, governance tools, and functional strategies to optimize portfolio margins, drive operational consistency, and position program execution as a direct enabler of revenue and operating profit growth.

Key Responsibilities

Divisional Functional Leadership: Develop, execute, and train teams on functional strategies, best practices, and standardized program management frameworks across all Power and Data Division business units.Team Mentorship & Growth: Lead and mentor senior program management leadership, embedding core competencies, governance rigor, and strategic accountability across project teams.Baseline & Margin Optimization: Establish program baselines that ensure project execution meets or exceeds initial proposal margin targets and revenue goals.Portfolio Health & Program Recovery: Create performance dashboards and metrics to monitor program health; lead reviews for underperforming programs and oversee cross-functional recovery and mitigation plans.Process & Tool Standardization: Identify, develop, and deploy improved program management tools, methodologies, and best practices tailored to support each Business Unit's operational needs.Qualifications & Requirements:Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related technical discipline.Mandatory Certification: Active PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.Experience: 10+ years of dedicated program management experience managing complex, multi-million-dollar program portfolios.Industry Experience: Direct background in Aerospace & Defense or another highly regulated sector (e.g., Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices, Advanced Manufacturing).Strategic Capabilities: Proven ability to manage portfolio P&L metrics, establish operational baselines, recover distressed projects, and present to executive stakeholders.
