The main goals of this position are twofold: 1). Lead dives and 2). Teach courses. Furthermore, the Dive Center Instructor assists the Dive Center Manager in the smooth and efficient running of all dive operations within the designated asset. He/She is responsible for the realization of the day-to-day activities all dive and underwater tourism related projects originating from the designated asset. The Dive Center Instructor will ensure all dive-related activities within the asset are conducted in a safe and professional manner. This includes: appearance of the dive center, leading dive excursions, teaching courses, all dive-related sales. Dive Center Instructor’s will act as salesmen assisting with the retail outlet.Job ResponsibilitiesGeneralReporting directly to the Dive Center Manager, assist in the smooth running of the dive center of the asset.Assist the Senior Manager in the development of other dive centers at other assets.Teach all course to and above PADI standards.Lead visiting divers on dives from the asset.Work with Sustainability and SEZ departments to ensure alignment with sensitive and high-profile environmental issues in the development and operation of Marine Life and Underwater Tourism related assets.Work remotely and visit office as and when required.Establishment of Dive Center: Pre-OpeningWork alongside the Senior Manager to develop and deliver the dive centre and necessary components.Working alongside and supporting all RSG departments during Delivery stage to ensure targets are achieved, operational phasing is initiated when required and projects are delivered as designed.Become familiar with dive sites within reach of the asset.Establishment of Dive Center: Post-OpeningManage standards of teaching and leading dives. Safety is paramount and always the first priority.All activities conducted from the Dive Center are conducted in a professional manner.Ensure all daily diving activities are conducted in a safe and professional manner.Ensure all courses are taught in a safe and professional manner, always ensuring that instructors err on the side of caution and that instructors follow all standards set forth by the training agency they represent.Ensure up to date and accurate records are kept pertaining to teaching activities.Assist with sales in the retail outlet.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, co-workers, and the public.Policies, Systems, Processes, Procedures, Standards and ReportsAdopt and follow all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure the dive center operates in a controlled and consistent manner.Safety, Quality & Environment Apply safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure employee and public safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.Continuous Improvement Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of the dive center’s systems, processes and practices considering ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.Qualification and ExperiencePADI Instructor with proven track record in various geographic locationsActive and Renewed PADI InstructorPADI Instructor rating for at least 5 specialtiesLogged at least 500 divesCertified at least 50 students across all “core” coursesDive business background-track record as evidenceHospitality track recordDiving health & safety experienceDiving track record in various geographic locationsEquipment managementDive retailMarine conservationFit to Dive MedicalEssential SkillsExcellent standard of written and spoken EnglishExcellent communicator and public talkingHas an aptitude and aspiration for outstanding customer service with a ‘can-do’ attitudeFlexible and open-minded approach to environment and tasksAbility to self-motivate and deliver to agreed deadlinesA working knowledge of guiding dives, allowing for delivery of a “wow” experienceA working knowledge of dive equipment to assist with corrective maintenanceGood time-keepingHighly detail-orientedGuest experience orientedAble to work with different cultures and nationalitiesAbility to handle high-end clienteleEffectively manage guests’ requests and complaintsGuarantee the maximum safety standard possible for guestsBe a perfect role model for other staff membersExcellent leadership qualitiesAble to work in a dive resort environment and follow professional grooming standardsAble to work both as part of a team and independently, and exercises sound judgment and discretionDemonstrate the utmost confidentiality at all timesProficient with Microsoft OfficeHas an interest in and an ability to build a solid understanding of marine science, research, conservation and educationAbility to deliver a magical guest experience and deliver high-quality (de)briefsAble to assist with dive center administration and planningDesirable SkillsSpoken language other than English (preferably Arabic)Social media posting skillsUnderwater photography/videography skillsMarine life identification abilities (fish, invertebrates, reptiles and mammals)Workshop technician for various equipment brands
