Documentation Officer - Microbiology
Location: Nr Buxton, DerbyshireSalary: £33,000 - £36,000 per annumHours: 37.5 hours per week, onsiteSite open from 7.30-6pm Mon-FriWe are recruiting for a Documentation Officer to join an established microbiology laboratory based in Derbyshire.This is a role combining quality, documentation and technical microbiology, making it an opportunity for an experienced laboratory microbiologist looking to move into a position with greater involvement in investigations, compliance, reporting and technical support.Working within a GMP and ISO 17025 environment, you will support the day-to-day quality and compliance of the laboratory while remaining involved in microbiological testing when required.The roleKey responsibilities will include:Managing and supporting quality event investigations, including non-conformances, OOS investigations, CAPAs, change controls, complaints and risk assessmentsGenerating, reviewing and approving laboratory test reportsReviewing and authorising laboratory dataCarrying out data trending and identifying potential issues or areas for improvementPreparing and reviewing SOPs, test methods and other controlled laboratory documentationProviding technical support and troubleshooting assistance to laboratory staffSupporting the scheduling and prioritisation of test samplesLiaising directly with customers regarding technical and testing requirementsSupporting microbiological testing and plate reading as requiredEnsuring laboratory activities are performed in accordance with GMP and ISO 17025 requirementsSupporting customer visits and third-party eventsAbout youWe are looking for someone with:A degree in Life Sciences, Microbiology or a related discipline.
BTEC or equivalent qualifications may also be considered alongside relevant experiencePrevious experience working within a microbiology laboratory to UKAS/GMP standards (either or both considered)A good understanding of laboratory quality and documentation requirementsStrong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skillsExcellent attention to detailGood written and verbal communication skillsThe confidence to provide technical support and communicate directly with customersThis position would particularly suit someone with microbiology testing experience and a quality focus, or someone looking to develop further within quality, compliance, investigations and laboratory documentation.Please note, due to the site's rural location, access to transport is required.
