Research Associate / Research Assistant (carrying the job title of “DOD Inkjet Ink Formulation Specialist”)This position is part of a collaborative research initiative between a world-renowned research university in Shatin and Xianhong Science (Hong Kong) Ltd. specializing in advanced solder mask inkjet ink development. The project aims to accelerate innovation in Drop-on-Demand (DOD) inkjet ink formulations for next-generation inkjet ink formulations for solder mask printing. The role involves developing, optimizing, and scaling advanced solder mask inkjet inks, bridging academic research with real-world industrial applications. The university manages recruitment and employment administration, while the selected candidate will work closely with both academic researchers and industry professionals.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and optimize inkjet ink formulations for DOD printing technologiesConduct research on pigments, dyes, solvents, binders, and additives to enhance performanceEvaluate inkjet ink properties such as viscosity, surface tension, stability, and jetting behavior, printed solder mask properties. Collaborate with university researchers and industry engineers on formulation and application challengesPerform testing, validation, and troubleshooting of ink performanceScale formulations from laboratory research to pilot and industrial productionContribute to technical reports, publications, and potential intellectual property Qualifications & RequirementsHave a Bachelor's degree (for Research Assistant) or a Master’s degree plus four years of post-qualification experience (for Research Associate);Minimum 2-3 years of experience in an industrial or commercial inkjet ink company.Demonstrated expertise in inkjet ink formulation, particularly for DOD systemsStrong background in chemistry, materials science, or chemical engineeringKnowledge of fluid dynamics, colloidal chemistry, and material compatibilityFamiliarity with printhead technologies and jetting requirementsExperience with analytical characterization and testing methodsAbility to work in a multidisciplinary, collaborative research environmentExperience with UV-curable, solvent-based, or water-based ink systems or translating research into scalable industrial processes are preferredBackground in industrial applications such as packaging, textiles, electronics, or additive manufacturing will be an advantage Appointment will be made on contract basis for one year.Please submit your CV and a brief summary of your relevant experience in inkjet ink formulation via the platform application system or email to osphereslimited@gmail.com.
