JOB PURPOSE:The drilling engineer is involved in a range of responsibilities related to the well planning, designing, and executing the drilling program. The role requires technical expertise and collaboration with various teams to ensure safe and efficient drilling processes delivered to our customers at the best service quality.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:Well Design and Planning: Develop well plans that include the selection of optimal drilling techniques, drilling equipment, drill bits, and other necessary components for successful drilling operations.Wellbore Trajectory Planning: Create wellbore trajectories that consider geological targets, drilling objectives, and regulatory requirements to reach the desired reservoirs.Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures to address potential drilling challenges, such as anti-collision, wellbore stability, lost circulation, and formation pressures.Geosteering and Logging-While-Drilling (LWD): Collaborate with geologists and LWD specialists to monitor wellbore position and formation characteristics in real-time during drilling operations.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all drilling plans and operations comply with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards set by relevant authorities.Data Analysis: Analyze drilling performance data and provide recommendations for process improvement and efficiency gains.Drilling Optimization: Identify opportunities to optimize drilling practices and implement new technologies or methodologies to enhance drilling efficiency and reduce costs.Technical Documentation: Prepare comprehensive technical reports, well plans, and post-drilling evaluations for internal teams, management, and regulatory bodies.Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including drilling engineers, geologists, reservoir engineers, and production engineers, to integrate well planning with overall field development plans.Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Ensure adherence to HSE protocols and actively promote a safety-first culture during all drilling operations.Performance Monitoring: Monitor drilling progress and ensure that drilling operations are executed according to the approved well plan.Continuous Learning: Stay updated with industry best practices, new technologies, and advancements in drilling techniques to improve the efficiency and safety of well planning and execution.Downhole Tool Pre Job Preparation: Work with Service Delivery Manager and coordinator to acquire the necessary information about the job and be able to perform pre-job analysis. Pro-actively recommend the best approach to achieve the job objective.Mentoring: observe and support junior well planning engineers and DHT specialist. Support to guide them to excel and develop in their career.Education & Experience:Education / QualificationsRequired: BSc in engineeringPreferred: Petroleum, Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical EngineeringExperienceRequired: 3 Years in Directional Drilling and Drilling Engineering role
