About the Company
Freight Force is an international dry bulk chartering and cargo trading desk. The desk focuses heavily on fixing Handysize through Supramax tonnage for regional export trades—including bulk/bagged cement, clinker, rice, and coal—routing into East Africa, the Indian Ocean islands, the Gulf, and the Far East. We are actively fixing tonnage and seek an experienced professional to manage the end-to-end commercial lifecycle of our fixtures.Role Overview: This role manages both pre-fixture and post-fixture operations to maximize voyage yield and ensure strict contract compliance. You will act as the primary operational link bridging our chartering team, vessel masters, port agents, and international charterers to protect commercial margins from fixture recap through to final hire settlement Key Responsibilities:Pre-Fixture Operations:
- Voyage Estimation & Analytics: Develop and audit complex voyage estimations—calculating bunker consumption by grade, reviewing port costs via Proforma Disbursement Accounts (PDAs), analyzing loading/discharging terms, and validating the Time Charter Equivalent (TCE) against Baltic Exchange benchmarks.
- Vessel Technical Vetting: Review vessel questionnaires (Q88), class and statutory certificates, P&I / H&M coverage, and RightShip safety profiles to ensure compliance with cargo requirements and international regulations.
- Contract Review: Review fixture recaps and analyze Charter Party and Rider clauses line-by-line to identify commercial risks or conflicting terms prior to final execution.Post-Fixture Operations & Voyage Management:
- Voyage Execution: Formulate and issue comprehensive Voyage Instructions to the Master in accordance with agreed charter party main terms.
- Port Agency & Disbursement Account Management: Formally appoint and brief port agents globally. Audit Estimated and Final Disbursement Accounts (EDAs/FDAs) directly against official port tariffs to ensure cost optimization.
- Cargo Documentation & Clearance: Oversee the operational lifecycles of vessel nominations, Notice of Readiness (NOR) tendering, Statements of Facts (SOF), Mate's Receipts, Bills of Lading, Letters of Indemnity (LOIs), draft surveys, and hatch-sealing procedures.
- Vessel Performance Monitoring: Track daily noon reports, evaluating vessel speed, bunker consumption metrics, and port cargo handling rates to proactively mitigate operational delays.
- Laytime & Claims Resolution: Calculate laytime statements, compile demurrage and despatch claims, defend our commercial position against counter-claims, and manage final voyage settlements. You must possess full fluency in standard laytime exceptions and exceptions clauses (SHINC, SHEX, SSHEX, PWWD, IUATUTC).Requirements & Qualifications:
- Experience: 2–5 years of dedicated experience in dry bulk vessel operations, post-fixture management, or within an exporter's commercial shipping desk.
- Laytime Fluency: Advanced knowledge of laytime calculations and dispute resolution. Candidates will be required to calculate a live demurrage claim from a raw Statement of Facts (SOF) and Charter Party extract during the interview process.
- Contractual Knowledge: Deep working knowledge of dry cargo frameworks—specifically GENCON, voyage and time charter party structures, deadfreight, liens, and port delivery terms (FIOST, FIO, FILO, Liner Terms).
- Port & Regional Expertise: Thorough understanding of Subcontinent maritime infrastructure—specifically operational realities, draft restrictions, and handling rates for bulk and bagged cargoes at Karachi Port and Port Qasim.
- Analytical Skills: Strong numerical and analytical capabilities, with proficiency in using Excel for data modeling and calculating voyage profit and loss (P&L) statements.
- Communication: Professional verbal and written English communication skills to effectively manage relationships with international owners, managers, and charterers across multiple time zones. Given the real-time nature of voyage tracking, the candidate must maintain operational flexibility to address critical vessel requirements outside of standard office hours. Preferred Attributes:
- Seagoing experience as a Deck Officer or a university degree in Maritime Studies.
- Exposure to maritime software platforms such as Signal Ocean, Veson IMOS, Dataloy, or Danaos.
- Direct experience handling bulk cement, clinker, coal, or rice stems.
