Our integrated ship management organization covers crewing, safety, maintenance, procurement, operations, sale & purchase, newbuilding construction and chartering. The owned fleet consists of 51 vessels from 4,500 dwt to 205,000 dwt (small product tankers and bunkering tankers, LR1, Suezmax, Capesize, Newcastlemax) rapidly expanding with a newbuilding program of MR1, LR1, LR2, Suezmax, VLCC, Kamsarmax and Newcastlemax, with deliveries between 2026 and 2029. The owned fleet serves both Mercuria’s freight trading business as well as handling all shipping activities of Minerva Bunkering, the world’s largest marine fuels physical supplier, a Mercuria wholly owned subsidiary.We are rapidly expanding our dry bulk fleet which currently consists of 10 Capesize and Newcastlemax vessels and 8 Kamsarmax and Newcastlemax vessels on order. We are looking for a dynamic Dry Bulk Operator to join our team in Athens.Job Description and key responsibilitiesAs a Dry Bulk Operator you will be assigned the responsibility of a group of vessels and by using your experience and knowledge you will assume the full operational supervision of your ships on a daily basis. Main focus areas are:Act as a key communication link between vessels, Charterers, Technical Managers, and internal teamsSupport commercial operations in line with charterparty requirementsMonitor voyages, vessel schedules, and port and at sea performance Monitor Cargo Holds cleaning operations and assess holds suitability for the intended cargoChecking the cargo planning and review stowage plansManage documentation related to Bills of Lading and Letters of IndemnitySupport Masters, on commercial and operational mattersLiaise with surveyors, external consultants, weather routing services and other parties as and when requiredMaintain voyage records and operational filesAs a member of the Operations Department, you will report to the Operations Manager and you will be supported by dedicated colleagues to familiarize yourself with the fleet. You will participate in selected training programs by major Classification Societies. You will join a young and energetic group of highly skilled professionals and be part of the shipping arm of one of the largest commodity trading groups in the world.Qualifications and ProfileUniversity degree in Maritime Studies or relevant discipline or Master’s / Chief Officer’s License and relevant seagoing experienceMinimum 4 years of experience as vessel operator with Dry Bulk Carriers. Proficiency in English, both verbally and in writingIT literate especially in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant systems (e.g. Danaos)Ability to manage multiple tasks and communicate effectively with various stakeholdersInitiative and independence.Applications will be treated with strict confidence.
