Company Description Spindrift School of Performing Arts (SSPA) is a non-profit performing arts school founded in 1994 by Pacifica residents and musicians Martha Phillips-Bootzin and Alexander Bootzin. Rooted in the San Francisco Bay Area, SSPA serves over 3,000 students each year through classes, private lessons, youth performances, year-round camps, and school site programs. The legacy of its founders continues to shape a welcoming, growth-focused culture for students, staff, and teaching artists.Role Description The Education and Artistic Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in the San Francisco Bay Area. This role oversees the design, implementation, and evaluation of performing arts curricula across classes, camps, and school site programs, ensuring alignment with SSPA’s mission and educational standards. The manager collaborates with teaching artists and administrative staff to schedule programs, develop lesson plans, coordinate rehearsals and performances, and maintain consistent quality of instruction. Daily responsibilities include mentoring and coaching instructors, supporting student progress, communicating with families and partner schools, and addressing operational needs within the education and artistic departments. The role also involves artistic planning for productions, monitoring program outcomes, and contributing to community engagement initiatives and special events.Qualifications Strong background in Education and Curriculum Development, with experience designing arts-based instructional programs.Demonstrated skill in Training and Coaching instructors or teaching artists, supporting professional growth and pedagogical excellence.Excellent Communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication with students, families, staff, and community partners.Experience in performing arts education or arts administration, ideally within a school, nonprofit, or youth-focused organization.Proven ability to manage multiple programs, schedules, and stakeholders in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.Leadership experience with teams, including conflict resolution, constructive feedback, and inclusive decision-making.Bachelor’s degree in Education, Arts Administration, Performing Arts, or related field; equivalent experience considered.Comfort with basic administrative tools and technology (e.g., email, spreadsheets, scheduling software) and willingness to learn new systems.Commitment to equity, inclusion, and creating a respectful, supportive environment for students and colleagues of diverse backgrounds.
