We are best known for our signature event, the ClevelandInternational Piano Competition, in addition to presenting concerts and community engagementexperiences for piano lovers of all ages and backgrounds.JOB PROFILEAs Piano Cleveland’s dedicated education and community engagement professional, you will leadthe day-to-day coordination and execution of programs that connect learners, educators, artists,and communities throughout Northeast Ohio with meaningful musical experiences. You will workclosely with school and community partners to deliver a range of programs, including our in-schoolworkshop Keys to Read, Arts Alive, our annual collaboration with Cleveland School of the Arts, andour three active PianoLabs, managing logistics, program details, and teaching artists to ensure eachprogram runs smoothly and effectively. You will also coordinate our thriving Piano and KeyboardDonation Program, connecting donated instruments with students and families throughout thecommunity. As an integral member of our nimble and collaborative team, you will bringorganization, creativity, and a passion for music to the work of connecting people throughoutNortheast Ohio with the piano.RESPONSIBILITIESOversee the implementation, refinement, and continued growth of Piano Cleveland’s in-school education programs including:Refine and strengthen existing programs to ensure they are engaging, accessible, polished, andresponsive to the needs of participating schoolsCoordinate program implementation in Cleveland public schools, including school outreach,scheduling, logistics, and alignment with Ohio Learning StandardsBuild and maintain strong relationships with teachers, principals, and school partners throughout theCleveland Metropolitan School DistrictEvaluate programs and gather feedback to identify opportunities for continued refinement andimprovementManage the successful execution and continued development of PianoLab programs in Cleveland publicschools, including:Work hand-in-hand with the PianoLab Coordinator to provide guidance and oversight for themanagement and execution of one PianoLab site, ensuring adherence to school policies whilesupporting effective day-to-day program operations and successful program deliveryOversee PianoLab teaching staff across three sites, including recruitment and hiring, scheduling,contracts, and payrollManage program logistics, including scheduling, instrument maintenance, program evaluationprocesses, and other program needsCoordinate and oversee the Piano and Keyboard Donation Program, including:Evaluate donated pianos and keyboards to determine suitability for the programCoordinate the process of matching donated instruments with eligible students and families,including communication, logistics, and follow-upTrack program activity, recipient information, outcomes, and other data to support evaluation andcontinued growth of the programWork with community partners to execute co-created programming that serves the needs oflearners of all agesOrganize annual masterclasses for local students with visiting artistsPlan and execute family-friendly, educational events throughout the year, with an emphasis on opportunities taking place around Piano Cleveland’s summer programming, including workshops, masterclasses, and artist interactionsQUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLSBachelor’s Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred experience in music education, childhood education, and/or musicCreative individual with knowledge of planning, designing, and implementing innovative andexceptional arts education content, lesson plans, and programming. Comfortable staying up-to-date on current PreK-12 learning standards and trendsExemplary at working with diverse audiences across many backgrounds, including adults, families,children, teachers, schools, and community organizationsAble to understand the challenges and opportunities in urban settingsDetail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.Exceptional communications skillsAbility to handle multiple projects at onceSelf-motivated with enthusiasm to try new thingsTakes initiativeWilling to be a part of a collaborative and supportive team in a fast-paced creative environmentPreferred but not required:Knowledge of classical music and/or piano music1-3 years of relevant work experience working as a music educator or performer;especially in a non-profit settingSALARY, BENEFITS, AND SCHEDULE$45,000 - $50,000 per year, with paid vacation, paid sick time, health insurance benefits, andretirement account with employer match.Office hours are 10 AM – 4 PM; additional hours needed for special events on evenings/weekends (scheduled in advance, dependent on programming). Flex time may be used forrequired events that occur after work hours.Piano Cleveland is a flexible work environment.
