Apply & track with Apply EdgeSchedule Monday - Friday: 7:00am - 3:00pm (School hours) Friday's school hours are 2 hours shorter Hours will not exceed 40 hours per weekDetailsThe student is a middle school female who requires G-tube feeding and trach care.Job DutiesA 1 on 1 Registered Nurse (RN) is needed for a student who requires health support and monitoring as per her Individualized Education Program (IEP). The student is medically complex and fragile, requiring care and breathing treatments throughout the school day. The RN will accompany the student from her home to school on the bus, stay with her throughout the school day, and accompany her back home on the bus.Responsibilities Evaluate health care needs of students and refer to appropriate specialists when necessary Administer immunizations and maintain records as required by the school physician and in compliance with state laws Administer medications and maintain records, including dosages and any adverse effects Educate students in personal hygiene and total health care Make medical appointments and assist with doctor's clinics to describe the student's condition to the physician and interpret medical information to the student and parents Maintain current medical records on each student Conduct routine surveys and annual screenings Keep parents informed of the student's health status Work with physicians at the Student Health Center and throughout the district Manage student emergencies related to accidents and health care Communicate student health care needs to instructional and residence hall staff Take sign language classes for communication with deaf studentsRequirements Active RN License in the State of Arizona Active Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC) CPR/BLS Certification Hepatitis B Vaccine COVID-19 VaccineMinimum Qualifications Registered Nurse licensed in the state Evidence of completion of a physical assessment skills course Eligible for Arizona School Nurse Certification Current CPR CertificationSpecial Knowledge and Skills Good knowledge of assessment and treatment of children aged 4 to 22 years Strong planning, organization, and communication skills Injury assessment skills are helpfulSpecial Conditions/Requirements Must utilize appropriate personal protective equipment as requiredSafety Sensitive Position This position requires pre-employment drug testing and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of employmentPreferred Qualifications Three years of experience in pediatric nursing or urgent care nursing Ability to work effectively with many people Knowledge of handicapped children Physical assessment skills with sports injuries American Sign Language experience preferredTrainingTraining will be provided either in the student's home or at school with her current RN and/or parent.
