The district offers professional support, structured programs, and resources that enable staff to deliver high-quality instruction and therapeutic services.Role Description The Education Specialist (Special Education Teaching Position - Therapeutic Services Program) is a full-time, on-site role with a $7,000 recruitment/retention bonus. This position provides specialized instruction and therapeutic support to students with emotional disabilities, focusing on individualized education plans (IEPs), social-emotional development, and behavioral needs. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering differentiated lessons, implementing evidence-based interventions, monitoring student progress, and maintaining accurate documentation. The Education Specialist collaborates closely with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to coordinate services, participate in IEP meetings, and ensure compliance with district and state regulations. The role also involves creating a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment, conducting ongoing assessments, and engaging in professional development to improve practices in special education and therapeutic services.The successful candidate will possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities to:
- Maintain and implement compliant IEP’s including, but not limited to, timeliness, procedures, and paperwork;
- Plan and adapt instruction in order to integrate appropriate strategies to meet the learning needs of allstudents;
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technologies to meet students’ diverse learning needs;
- Maintain professional competence through participation in Professional Learning Communities, in-service education activities provided by the district, and/or in self-selected professional growth activities;
- Evaluate students and complete reports, as necessary, in academic career/life skills and behavioral areas using formal and informal measures;
- Develop individualized, measurable goals and objectives aligned with content standards and/or course outcomes based on individual student needs and assessment results;
- Collaborate with and provide training to general education teachers and aides to support the academic success and IEP’s of special education students;
- Routinely monitor the progress of special education students in general education classes and modifysupports, as necessary;
- Effectively communicate with all stakeholders.Requirements
- Education Specialist Instruction Credential or equivalent – Moderate/Severe Authorization preferred
- English Learner Authorization
