We repair inverter, spindle and servo drives, power supplies, circuit boards, monitors, encoders, motors, motion control and many other devices used in CNC and industrial automation applications. Our company is in the midst of rapid growth and we are looking for talented people to join our team. Precision Zone is looking for an experienced Electric Motor Repair Supervisor to lead our motor repair team in Wheeling, IL. The Motor Repair Supervisor will train and supervise repair technicians and trainees across our motor product lines, including AC and DC servo motors, AC and DC spindle motors, 3 phase general purpose motors, and DC general purpose motors. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will provide expertise in evaluation, component failure diagnostics and repair, assist with complex repairs and testing, and distribute the repair workload to meet customer demand and turnaround expectations. Reporting to the Repair Group Manager, the Supervisor sets and reinforces department policies, procedures, and quality standards, and keeps the shop safe, clean, and compliant with our Clean Workplace Standards. Responsibilities
Motor Repair Supervisor primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:· Leadership and Team Development: Lead, train, and mentor Motor Repair Technicians (Levels I–III) and trainees across product series and repair types.· Establish goals and performance standards for each technician level, and help develop a performance-based compensation structure tied to standard repair times.· Build a clear communication and reporting structure with technicians and conduct department meetings as needed.· Promote ongoing product knowledge through regularly scheduled training, including on-site training opportunities.· Workflow and Scheduling: Assign and distribute the repair workload with the Lead Technician, focusing on the weekly schedule, customer demand, and priority repairs.· Review priority repair schedules, oversee the disposition of parts, and establish related procedures.· Assign scheduled evaluations and conduct daily inspections to confirm repaired products are in their designated areas.· Technical Expertise and Quality: Provide technical guidance on evaluations, component failure diagnostics, and complex repairs and testing, including disassembly, cleaning, repair, and reassembly.· Determine whether units are cost effective to repair or should be scrapped, based on parts and labor.· Co-develop and implement Quality Assurance procedures that minimize warranty returns and maximize department profitability.· Monitor and analyze productivity and quality reports and make adjustments to meet and exceed team standards.· Ensure technicians keep complete and accurate records of all work in Repair Tracker and company software.· Safety, Policy, and Continuous Improvement: Conduct weekly department safety meetings and follow Vigilant Safety Practices throughout the facility and on facility property.· Ensure all work areas are safe, clean, and compliant with Clean Workplace Standards.· Develop and implement department policies and procedures consistent with the Company's Mission, Vision, and Goals.· Lead continuous improvement efforts, and review and submit technician suggestions for equipment, tooling, and safety improvements to the Repair Group Manager.· Collaborate with other departments to ensure products are properly inspected and company policies are followed.· Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
· Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, technical certifications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience· 4+ years of experience supervising electric motor repair or mechanical repair service preferred· Previous management experience preferred· Hands-on knowledge of electric motor repair, including AC/DC servo, spindle, and general purpose motors· Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams· Familiarity with motor test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, winding analyzer) and machine shop equipment (lathe, mill, balancer) preferred· Advanced computer skills and the ability to review and analyze data and reports· Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills· Detail oriented with good housekeeping habits· Ability to work in a team environment· Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include off-shift hours and weekend assignments· Speak, read, and write English specific to the nature of the workPhysical Requirements· Stamina to work all assigned hours· Walking, standing, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds and repetitive motions.· Must be able to hear in order to take/give instruction and information.· 20/40 vision with or without correction with the ability to distinguish colors.· Use of hands 100% of the workday, including dexterity of hands, fingers, and feet and eye/hand and hand/foot coordination.Schedule and Salary Info:· Base Salary range: $72,000 – $110,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications· Full Time, Exempt (salaried): Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm, with additional hours as needed to meet customer demand, including occasional Saturdays.· Reports to: Repair Group Manager· Competitive wage and comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision, short and long term disability, life insurance, 401(k) options, and PTO (paid time off)· Performance based bonusesPrecision Zone is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Precision Zone100 Chaddick Dr.Wheeling, IL 60090
