Electrical Design Engineer

About the CompanyWe are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our consultancy team.About the RoleThe ideal candidate will have strong experience in electrical design within engineering consultancy projects, with expertise in electrical systems, design calculations, technical documentation, and multidisciplinary coordination.The selected candidate will play a key role in developing electrical designs for building projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and project specifications while contributing to the successful delivery of projects.

Responsibilities

Develop electrical design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports for various projects.Design electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, grounding, lightning protection, fire alarm, ELV, and security systems.Perform electrical engineering calculations, including load assessments, short-circuit studies, voltage-drop analysis, and cable sizing.Prepare load schedules, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and equipment layouts.Develop comprehensive electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts using AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, structural, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines.Respond to technical queries, support site teams, and review contractor submittals and proposals for compliance with the design intent.Ensure all design work complies with applicable electrical codes, standards, and client requirements.Contribute to design reviews, quality checks, project planning, and fee or proposal submissions.Support and guide junior engineers and CAD/BIM team members.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.6–8 years of relevant electrical design experience, preferably within an engineering consultancy.Previous experience designing electrical systems for building projects.Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering projects.

Required Skills

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and relevant electrical design and calculation software.Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and engineering design practices.Ability to perform electrical design calculations, including load assessments, short-circuit studies, voltage-drop analysis, and cable sizing.Excellent technical documentation, communication, and coordination skills.Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.Preferred QualificationsProfessional registration or eligibility for professional registration is an advantage.
