Electrical Electronic Engineer

We are looking for an Electrical & Electronic Engineer to join their engineering team in Tokyo, Japan, supporting the development of advanced energy and nuclear fusion technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical systems and equipment for nuclear fusion facilities, demonstration facilities, and related test systems.
• Prepare electrical load lists, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), electrical specifications, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
• Develop specifications for electrical equipment including UPS, switchgear, MCCs, distribution boards, transformers, and related equipment.
• Design control panels for electrical loads such as motors, heaters, and other plant equipment.
• Prepare electrical construction-related documents including cable routes, cable schedules, hook-up drawings, BQ/BOM, and related engineering documentation.
• Develop generator specifications and support technical evaluation and document review throughout the project lifecycle.
• Design power receiving and transforming equipment and coordinate with subcontractors and electrical suppliers.
• Support the design of energy storage and compensation equipment such as SVC and MG systems within fusion power generation facilities.
• Develop and review Power Management Systems (PMS) and related electrical control systems.
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding technical specifications, proposals, drawings, documentation, inspections, and project execution.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering and electrical equipment design in industrial, energy, power generation, EPC, or heavy engineering projects.
• Experience in overseas EPC projects involving electrical equipment design and engineering.
• Experience preparing specifications for electrical equipment such as UPS, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, distribution boards, and generators.
• Experience preparing electrical engineering drawings such as SLDs, cable routes, cable schedules, hook-up drawings, and BQ/BOM.
• Experience with electrical load lists and electrical system design.
• Experience with vendor coordination, technical evaluation, vendor negotiations, and vendor document review.
• Understanding of Power Management Systems (PMS) and electrical control systems.
• Understanding of extra-high-voltage electrical equipment and power receiving/transforming systems.
• Understanding of international electrical standards such as IEC or equivalent.
• Business-level English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in nuclear, fusion, power generation, oil & gas, LNG, hydrogen, chemical, or other advanced energy projects.
• Experience with ETAP or other electrical system analysis tools.
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar electrical design software.
• Experience designing generators driven by gas turbines, steam turbines, emergency diesel engines, or similar systems.
• Experience with high-voltage and extra-high-voltage electrical systems.
• Experience with SVC, MG, energy storage, or power compensation systems.
• Professional Engineer (US PE), Chief Electrical Engineer, or equivalent electrical qualifications.
• International EPC project experience.Ideal Candidate:
• Strong technical background in electrical engineering and industrial electrical systems.
• Experienced in electrical equipment specification, design, vendor coordination, and project execution.
• Comfortable working with multidisciplinary engineering teams, EPC contractors, and international suppliers.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive and willing to learn new technologies related to nuclear fusion and advanced energy.
