STQ Partners are currently partnered with a specialist Industrial Power Systems business. The business has vast experience in electrical packages and execution on power projects.With multiple sites in Houston, the business has over a century long heritage, serving and supplying the industrial power systems world. They are now seeking to hire an Electrical Engineer to join the business. The business is scaling to keep up with engineered to order & speciality project pipeline demands.The overall objective of the Electrical Engineer is to deliver sound, compliant and buildable electrical engineering across engineered to order power distribution projects. This role applies core engineering principles to equipment ratings, protection, control and power distribution design, working closely with Applications, Design, Project Management, Manufacturing and Testing to make sure projects are engineered correctly from specification through to factory test.For this role we are specifically looking for experience with power distribution equipment such as medium and low-voltage switchgear and motor control centers (MCCs).

Responsibilities

Carry out electrical engineering for engineered to order switchgear, MCCs and associated power distribution and control equipment.Perform and review engineering calculations including short circuit ratings, bus sizing, load calculations, voltage drop and CT/PT sizing.Specify and select protective devices, relays, breakers, starters, transformers and metering to meet customer requirements and applicable standards.Develop and review protection and control schemes, including relay settings support, interlocking, transfer schemes and breaker control.Review customer specifications and one-lines to confirm equipment ratings and compliance with IEEE, ANSI, UL, NEMA and NEC requirements.Provide engineering oversight and sign-off on schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering release packages.Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), troubleshoot test issues and provide technical dispositionAct as a technical point of contact for customers, vendors and internal teams on complex or non-standard electrical requirements.Contribute to engineering standards, design guidelines and continuous improvement across the engineering function.Qualifications/Experience:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Power Engineering.3+ years of electrical engineering experience with power distribution equipment, switchgear, MCCs or industrial power systems.Strong knowledge of power system fundamentals, including fault current, protection philosophy, grounding and equipment ratings.Experience with medium-voltage metal-clad switchgear, LV switchgear, MVMCCs or LVMCCs is highly desirable.Working knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, UL, NEMA and NEC standards.Experience with protective relays and power system analysis software is advantageous.EIT certification required; PE licence or progress towards PE is a strong advantage.Experience supporting factory testing or field commissioning of power distribution equipment.Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.There is a genuine opportunity for someone to join a growing team and business.
