The RoleWe are looking for an experienced Extra Low Voltage Engineer to support in the commissioning and validation of Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems across major data centre projects.You will be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering Level 2 through Level 5 commissioning activities, with particular emphasis on Level 4 functional performance testing and Level 5 Integrated Systems Testing (IST).As a member of the commissioning team, you will participate in oversee activities, review commissioning documentation and work closely with clients, contractors, vendors and multidisciplinary engineering teams to drive systems through to successful acceptance and handover.Key ResponsibilitiesL2 – Installation Verification & ReadinessLead verification of ELV installation readiness against approved designs, specifications and commissioning requirementsReview installation checklists, inspection records, ITPs, Method Statements and supporting documentationIdentify installation deficiencies and ensure outstanding issues are resolved prior to commissioningConfirm systems meet commissioning entry criteria before progression to functional testingL3 – Equipment & System CommissioningPlan, coordinate and witness commissioning of ELV equipment and individual system componentsVerify configuration, functionality, interfaces, alarms, controls and communicationsCoordinate with vendors and contractors to resolve technical issuesConfirm system stability and readiness before progression to Level 4 testingL4 – Functional Performance TestingCoordinate Level 4 functional performance testing of ELV systemsPrepare, review and technically challenge commissioning test scripts and sequencesVerify sequences of operation, cause-and-effect requirements, alarms, controls and system responsesCoordinate testing activities across vendors, contractors and other commissioning disciplinesIdentify failures, defects and non-conformances during testing and drive corrective actions and retestingEnsure testing is accurately documented and supported by appropriate evidenceL5 – Integrated Systems Testing (IST)Support Level 5 Integrated Systems Testing across ELV and associated building systemsReview and develop IST scripts, scenarios and system interaction requirementsCoordinate ELV participation in integrated testing involving electrical, mechanical, BMS and life-safety systemsValidate system responses during normal operation, abnormal conditions and simulated failure scenariosEnsure ELV interfaces and dependencies operate correctly during integrated testingSupport client demonstrations, witness testing and final acceptanceDocumentation & Project DeliveryPrepare, review and approve commissioning plans, procedures, test scripts and test recordsMaintain accurate commissioning documentation and ensure appropriate evidence is captured throughout testingManage technical issues, defects, observations and commissioning punch-list items through to closureReview vendor and contractor commissioning submissions for technical completenessProduce commissioning progress updates and technical reportsSupport final commissioning reports and project handover documentationAttend commissioning, coordination and client meetingsProvide clear technical updates on system status, risks and outstanding actionsLeadership & Stakeholder ManagementAct as the technical point of contact for ELV commissioning activitiesProvide technical guidance and support other ELV Commissioning Engineers and other members of the project teamCoordinate contractors, vendors and specialist suppliers during testing activitiesWork collaboratively with Electrical, Mechanical and BMS commissioning teamsBuild strong working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and project stakeholdersEscalate technical and programme risks where they may impact commissioning milestones or project handoverPromote high standards of quality, safety and commissioning best practiceWhat We're Looking For5-7 years' relevant ELV engineering and commissioning experienceStrong data centre or mission-critical project experience is essentialProven hands-on experience delivering L2–L5 commissioning activitiesSolid practical experience of Level 4 functional performance testing and Level 5 Integrated Systems Testing (IST)Demonstrable experience preparing, reviewing and executing commissioning test scriptsStrong technical knowledge across multiple ELV systems and their interfaces with other building systemsExperience diagnosing system failures and coordinating corrective actions and retestingAbility to read and interpret drawings, schematics, cause-and-effect matrices, sequences of operation and technical specificationsStrong understanding of commissioning documentation, testing procedures and handover requirementsExcellent communication, coordination and stakeholder management skillsAbility to lead testing activities and work effectively across multidisciplinary teamsStrong attention to detail with a commitment to quality, safety and technical excellenceRelevant engineering qualification, degree or recognised technical certification
