We value innovation, close collaboration, continuous learning and a strong commitment to quality and ownership in everything we build.About the roleAs an Embedded Software Engineer, you design and develop high-quality embedded software for complex electronic and mechatronic systems. You work on high-performance machines and modules where reliability, deterministic behavior and seamless hardware/software interaction are critical.You are responsible for the full software development lifecycle: from defining requirements and designing software architectures to implementation, integration, testing and validation in both lab setups and real machine environments. You act as the technical point of contact for embedded software topics and collaborate closely with architects and engineers from the software, electronics and mechatronics disciplines to translate system requirements into scalable, maintainable and robust solutions.Key responsibilitiesDesigning, developing and maintaining embedded software applications in C/C++Defining, documenting and managing functional and technical requirementsDesigning and implementing software architectures for embedded and real-time systemsDeveloping software for ARM-based platforms and Real-Time Operating Systems such as FreeRTOSImplementing and maintaining EtherCAT communication interfaces and protocolsTesting, validating and debugging embedded software using advanced development and diagnostic toolsContributing to software quality through automated testing and continuous integrationActing as the primary contact for embedded software questions within projectsCollaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated mechatronic system solutionsWhat you bringA bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems or a related fieldAt least 5 years of experience in embedded software development using C/C++Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems, preferably FreeRTOSHands-on experience with EtherCAT-based communication systemsExperience developing software for ARM-based processor platformsPractical experience with software debugging tools and embedded system diagnosticsExperience with mechatronic systems and hardware/software integrationFamiliarity with professional software engineering practices, including requirements management, software architecture & design, version/configuration management, test automation and CI/CD (DevOps)Comfortable collaborating with software, electronics and mechatronics engineers at a technical levelAn analytical, pragmatic, proactive and solution-oriented mindsetStrong communication skills and fluency in English; Dutch is a plusStrong organizational, time management and prioritization skillsExperience in high-tech, semiconductor or industrial automation environments is a plus
