We are seeking an experienced and autonomous EMEA Trade Compliance Manager to take full responsibility for leading and coordinating trade compliance activities across our European operations.Your core mission will be to ensure full regulatory alignment, minimize import/export risks, and accelerate time-to-market for new products. You will develop, implement, and continuously refine a robust trade compliance program that supports business growth, operational efficiency, and sustainable competitiveness. In your day-to-day work, you will foster strong cross-functional partnerships with Supply Chain, Procurement, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, and Sales teams to embed compliance directly into daily operations.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy & Regulatory Alignment: Develop and implement the Europe-wide trade compliance strategy, policies, and procedures. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of EU and country-specific import/export controls, sanctions, dual-use regulations, VAT/GST, origin rules, and customs requirements.Classification & Customs Management: Advise on tariff classification (HS codes), preferential origin, and duty optimization opportunities. Ensure all new SKUs generated by technical areas receive an assigned HS code, and audit classification databases for global imports, exports, and returns to eliminate misclassification penalties.Export Controls & Sanctions: Monitor and manage export controls, restricted party screening, license and agreement administration, and compliance with EU and national sanctions regimes. Lead internal risk assessments for new products, customers, and markets related to export controls.Customs Oversight & Clearance: Oversee customs compliance, import/export documentation, customs reporting, and clearance optimization. Ensure accurate product valuation, origin marking, and maximum utilization of preferential trade agreements.Risk Mitigation & Audits: Identify, assess, and mitigate trade compliance risks; design controls, monitoring, and audit programs. Lead internal and external audits related to trade compliance and implement corrective action plans.Training & Compliance Culture: Develop and deliver training programs for relevant stakeholders on trade compliance requirements and regulatory updates. Promote a strong culture of compliance across all European operations.Stakeholder & Authority Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for customs authorities, trade associations, and external consultants in Europe. Collaborate with global Trade Compliance teams to harmonize policies and share best practices.Reporting & Digitization: Establish metrics and dashboards to monitor compliance performance, risk indicators, and remediation status. Lead initiatives to digitize trade compliance processes, automate screening, and optimize data quality in ERP/DEPF systems.People Management: Directly lead, mentor, and manage 1 direct report.Candidate Profile & RequirementsEducation & ExperienceEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Law, International Trade, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in trade compliance, customs, or regulatory affairs, with a strong focus on Europe.Certifications: Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CTP, CTCM, or similar) are highly advantageous.Hard SkillsDeep understanding of the EU Customs Code, import/export controls, sanctions regimes, dual-use controls, VAT/GST, and origin procedures.Expertise in HS classification, tariff engineering, and preferential origin rules under trade agreements.Proven experience managing licenses, end-use checks, denied party screening, and export license administration.Strong proficiency in import/export documentation, clearance processes, and compliance requirements of national customs authorities.Solid track record in risk analysis, internal audits, and remediation planning.Experience with trade compliance software, ERP integrations, data-driven decision-making, advanced Excel, and data visualization tools.Soft SkillsProven ability to influence senior stakeholders, lead without authority, and build strong cross-functional partnerships.Meticulous attention to detail paired with a pragmatic approach to solving complex regulatory issues.Comfortable driving process, system, and cultural change across multi-country operations.Clear and concise communicator capable of translating complex regulatory language into practical guidance and training.Proactive, pragmatic problem solver who remains composed under regulatory pressure.Uncompromised ethics, strong risk awareness, and absolute discretion in handling sensitive information.Language RequirementsEnglish: Fluent (speaking, writing, and reading).Contractual & Corporate CompensationContract Type: Full-time.Applied Collective Agreement (CCNL): Metalworking Industry (Metalmeccanica Industria).Salary: 3000 € + annual bonus based on company resultsEmployee perks, benefits
