Energy Trading Leader

Energy Trading LeaderPermanent, hybrid working.An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced energy trading professional to lead forward trading activities within a renewable energy business. This role will play a critical part in shaping forward trading and hedging strategies while driving commercial performance, market analysis and risk management.You will be responsible for developing and executing hedging strategies, optimising portfolio performance and providing market insights that support key trading and investment decisions.You will lead a team and work closely with stakeholders across trading, finance, regulation and operations to manage market risk, ensure regulatory compliance and support the continued growth of a renewable energy portfolio.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the execution of forward trading and hedging strategies for an Irish power portfolio.Optimise hedge volumes, products and timing within approved trading mandates.Deliver market analysis, price forecasting and commercial insights to support trading decisions.Manage trading risk frameworks, controls, reporting and governance.Ensure compliance with EMIR, REMIT and internal trading policies.Monitor energy market developments, regulatory changes and competitor activity.Lead the development and governance of electricity market models and price forecasts.Provide recommendations on capacity market and outage related risks.Build strong relationships with market counterparties and stakeholders.Lead, coach and develop a team of trading professionals.About YouDegree qualified in Eng, Maths, Economics, Finance, Data Analytics, Science, Computer Science.Minimum five years' experience in power trading, forward hedging, energy market analysis or price forecasting.Strong understanding of SEM and I-SEM power markets.Experience developing market models, forecasting prices and analysing trading opportunities.Strong commercial judgement and ability to influence senior stakeholders.Advanced analytical and data management skills.Experience leading teams and managing performance.Desirable ExperienceExperience with Plexos, ETRM platforms, SQL, Python or Power BI.Knowledge of renewable energy markets, PPAs and Guarantees of Origin.Experience in capacity markets, gas market modelling or energy market regulation.Demonstrated track record of delivering commercially significant trading outcomes.Why Apply?Lead a strategically important trading function.Influence key commercial and investment decisions.Work at the forefront of Ireland's renewable energy sector.Manage a highly visible portfolio within a growing energy business.Excellent opportunity for career progression and leadership development.For a confidential discussion, please get in touch.
