Engine Trainer Tanker

This role will be responsible for planning, delivering, monitoring, and evaluating training programs to strengthen crew capabilities and ensure safe, efficient, and compliant vessel operations.ResponsibilitiesConduct Crew Training Needs Analysis (TNA) based on operational requirements and crew competencyDevelop and maintain training plans, schedules, and training matrices for shipboard personnelPlan and implement crew familiarization programs for newly joined and existing crewDevelop relevant training concepts, modules, and materials for engine department personnelDeliver technical and competency-based training onboard vesselsEvaluate training effectiveness and crew performance, and recommend improvement actions.Prepare and manage training budgetsMaintain accurate training records, documentation, and administrationMonitor and follow up on crew development and competency improvementConduct onboard visits and training assignments as requiredQualificationsATT I (Class I Marine Engineer Certificate)Minimum 3 years of sailing experience as Chief Engineer on tanker vessels with minimum 10,000 DWTStrong practical experience in tanker engine room operationsPreferably have 2 years of shore-based experience in the shipping industry, particularly in a training or crew development functionPrevious experience as a Trainer is highly preferredTOT IMO Model Course 6.09 certification is preferredStrong knowledge and practical experience in: Boiler operation, Fuel Oil & Lube Oil Purifier operation and setup, Engine room equipment and machinery, Engine room safety and operational procedures, Crew competency and familiarizationStrong skills in Training Delivery, Training Management, Performance Management, and Organizational DevelopmentExcellent communication, presentation, coaching, and interpersonal skillsWilling and able to travel and be assigned onboard vessels to conduct trainingAt Waruna Shipping Group, we are committed to developing capable maritime professionals and maintaining the highest standards of safety, operational excellence, reliability, and regulatory compliance across our fleet.
