Engineering Director

Role DescriptionAn Engineering Director is responsible for leading engineering strategy, technical operations, projects, and engineering teams. The role ensures engineering solutions meet business, quality, safety, cost, and performance requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement engineering strategies, standards, and plans.Lead engineering projects from planning through completion.Manage engineering teams, resources, budgets, and technical priorities.Oversee design, development, testing, installation, and commissioning activities.Review engineering designs, specifications, calculations, and technical documents.Monitor project schedules, costs, quality, and technical performance.Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety requirements, and regulations.Identify and resolve technical, operational, and engineering issues.Oversee equipment, materials, technology, and engineering resources.Manage engineering risks, changes, technical approvals, and project requirements.Drive innovation, efficiency, cost reduction, and continuous improvement.Prepare technical reports, budgets, forecasts, and management updates.Lead, coach, and develop engineering teams and technical professionals.Support senior management with technical advice and strategic recommendations.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.Extensive experience in engineering management and senior leadership.Strong knowledge of engineering design, project management, and technical operations.Experience managing engineering teams, projects, budgets, and resources.Strong understanding of relevant engineering standards, codes, and regulations.Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.Experience with engineering software, project management tools, and technical systems.Good commercial, financial, and risk-management awareness.Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.Professional engineering certification or chartered status is advantageous.UAE/GCC engineering experience is preferred.Professional, strategic, organized, accountable, and results-oriented.
