Backed by federal agencies and top-tier academic partners, Lumia’s earpiece technology is transforming how we understand and manage brain and cardiovascular health in real-time—whether in the clinic, in the home, or on the battlefield.The RoleThis is a highly dynamic role that requires the ability to think quickly and develop customized solutions, and excellent communication skills to translate technical concepts into clear explanations. You will leverage both hardware and software tools to design effective processes. You will be the first intern of a growing Translational Science team of healthtech engineers and scientists.ResponsibilitiesField Operations Provide on-site and remote training and technical support to collaborators at hospitals and universitiesTroubleshoot hardware, software, and operational issues to ensure reliable device performance.Conduct hardware testing, device validation, and performance evaluations to identify risks and limitations. Data wrangling and analysis Analyze device telemetry data to monitor system performance and diagnose technical issuesAnalyze physiological and biometric datasets to identify meaningful insights relevant to research studies Deliver data visualizations and reports to communicate findings and actionable insights to collaboratorsSystems Consulting Direct interaction with PIs from top universities and clinical sites; serve as a technical advisor on device functionality, system capabilities, and operational requirements.Provide technical guidance on protocol design and ensure compatibility with system capabilities and design constraints.Contribute to, manage, and distribute technical documentation to support device deployment in clinical settings.Required Experience Currently enrolled in a master's degree program or currently in their senior year of an undergraduate program in an engineering discipline, such as Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Experience working with photoplethysmography or other biosignalsBasic understanding of electronics and circuits, cardiac physiology, and statisticsProficient programming skills, including experience analyzing time-series dataDemonstrated significant contributions to a technical projectBonus experience Experience working with optical-based wearable sensorsBasic understanding of human-subject clinical research Required Application MaterialsResumeWeekly availability. This position offers flexible scheduling with minimal fixed-hour requirements to accommodate academic commitments. We ask for a minimum commitment of 8-10 hours per week and will work with the selected candidate to establish a reasonable schedule.
