This one hands you neither, and that's exactly the appeal.You'll join one of Australia's largest consumer technology businesses, a platform by millions of people every day. Behind their core consumer business sits a new commercial innovation division, serving a different customer base entirely.Tech and product here have historically been run out of the US. The business is now building out local leadership for the first time, and that's where you come in.You'd lead a lean engineering crew of 4, acting as a mini CTO for the Australian division: owning localisation, launch and delivery of a new product line into the Australian market, and shaping the technical direction, team and roadmap from day one.The Role:Built for a strong Senior Tech Lead/EM ready to move into people and business leadership, not someone looking to step back into hands-on coding full-time. (You'll remain 20-30% on the tools, contributing to the codebase, design reviews and code reviews alongside leading the team.)Real influence beyond engineering. You'll work directly with senior stakeholders across product, design and sales, shaping how the business grows, not just how the software ships.Small by design, not by accident. This is a business proving out its commercial ambitions before scaling headcount, so you're building the foundation, not inheriting one.Sits outside the core technology leadership structure. An entrepreneurial, business-facing seat with real ownership over technical direction, architecture and the build-vs-buy roadmap.The next 12 to 24 months bring real scope expansion: white-label offerings and data integration are next on the roadmap, a significant step up from where the business sits today.What You'll Bring:Full-stack, hands-on expertise in C#/.NET backend and React/Next.js/TypeScript frontendProven technical leadership as a Senior Tech Lead or Engineering Manager, with a track record of setting technical direction and growing a teamExperience designing and evolving scalable, reliable systems in modern cloud environments (AWS, Azure and/or GCP), including microservices, REST/GraphQL and async messagingStrong commercial acumen and genuine comfort operating with senior, non-technical stakeholders, translating technical trade-offs into business termsExperience with DevOps practices including CI/CD, automation and observabilityAn entrepreneurial mindset, energised by building something from a small base rather than inheriting something establishedAmbition to grow into a broader leadership remit as the business and team scaleExperience with social media API integrations (Meta, Google)Experience leading platform modernisation or transformation initiativesApplied knowledge of TDD, BDD, Domain-Driven Design and modern application security practiceApply now or reach out for more info:📩: george.bates@latitudeit.com.au🔗: George Bates | LinkedIn
