Engineering Manage

Role Description The Engineering Manager will provide technical leadership and oversight for systems, tools, and processes that support AQ Consulting and Accountants’ accounting and consultancy operations. This part-time, remote role includes overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of software solutions, cloud-based platforms, and integrations used across the firm. The Engineering Manager will collaborate closely with leadership and operational staff to identify technical requirements, improve workflow efficiency, and ensure secure, reliable data handling. Responsibilities include managing development and support efforts, defining technical standards, coordinating external vendors or contractors when needed, and monitoring system performance. The role also involves prioritizing tasks, documenting processes, and guiding continuous improvement initiatives to align technology with business goals.QualificationsStrong background in software engineering or systems engineering, with experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining business-critical applications or platforms.Experience leading engineering teams or technical projects, including task planning, code review, and stakeholder communication.Proficiency with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, or similar), databases, APIs, and integration of third-party tools commonly used in professional services or accounting environments.Knowledge of information security, data protection, and compliance best practices relevant to handling financial or client data.Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and solutions, working closely with non-technical team members.Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a part-time remote setting.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and clear reporting to leadership.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience is also considered.Prior experience in professional services, accounting, consultancy, or related domains is beneficial.
