Its platform combines AI agents, accounting automation, real-time financial workflows, data integrations, and rapid ERP migration technology to help companies replace legacy systems and significantly reduce manual finance operations. The platform supports core financial functions including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliation, financial planning, multi-entity accounting, audit controls, reporting, and financial automation. The company has already processed more than $100B in journal entries, supports thousands of integrations, and serves businesses ranging from growth-stage companies to publicly traded enterprises. The business raised a $90M Series A, bringing total funding to more than $100M, and is scaling aggressively as it expands its engineering organization. The OpportunityWe are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager who has previously helped build and scale engineering teams and still wants to write and ship production code. This is not a traditional people-management role. You will initially lead approximately 20–30 engineers across multiple time zones, while helping establish the engineering management infrastructure required to support a rapidly growing organization. You’ll report into senior engineering leadership and take ownership of both technical execution and organizational development. The right person will be equally comfortable:• Writing Python and reviewing architecture• Shipping production code• Managing and developing engineers• Establishing performance metrics and engineering processes• Making infrastructure and architecture decisions• Working directly with Product on roadmap and execution• Moving quickly with incomplete informationWhat You’ll Do• Lead approximately 20–30 engineers, primarily distributed across Eastern Europe and South America• Help scale the engineering organization as the company grows rapidly• Define engineering performance metrics, expectations, feedback systems, and review processes• Build reporting structures and engineering pods from the ground up• Remain hands-on technically and write code regularly• Drive backend development primarily in Python• Partner with Product leadership on roadmap, prioritization, and delivery• Make architecture and infrastructure decisions• Help oversee major infrastructure initiatives, including AWS and Kubernetes environments• Unblock engineers and drive major product releases• Improve engineering velocity while maintaining technical quality• Help establish hiring, onboarding, development, and performance-management processes• Create scalable systems without introducing unnecessary bureaucracyMUST-HAVES / DEALBREAKERS5+ years of backend-heavy software engineering experience with progression from a strong individual contributor into engineering leadership. You must have:• Built and scaled an engineering team, rather than only inheriting a mature organization• Experience progressing from a strong Staff/Principal-level engineering background into hands-on engineering management• Strong backend engineering expertise• Advanced Python experience• The ability and desire to continue coding and shipping production software regularly• Experience managing or leading sizable engineering teams• Strong system-design and architecture fundamentals• Experience operating in a high-growth, fast-moving product environment• A BS in Computer Science or equivalent technical degreeLeadership ProfileThis environment requires someone with high agency and low ego.You should be comfortable:• Making decisions quickly• Operating with limited structure• Taking ownership without waiting for direction• Admitting when something isn't working• Changing direction quickly when the data changes• Balancing engineering quality with startup speed• Managing engineers across multiple countries and time zones• Building processes instead of depending on established corporate infrastructureTechnical EnvironmentThe engineering organization is primarily backend-heavy, with technology and infrastructure including areas such as:• Python• Django• AWS• Kubernetes• Cloud infrastructure• Distributed systems• React / TypeScript on the frontendNice to HaveExperience with:• Platform-as-a-Service companies• Fintech or financial infrastructure• Enterprise SaaS• Developer infrastructure• Companies similar to Datadog, Snowflake, Stripe, or other highly technical product organizations• AWS-to-Kubernetes or other major infrastructure migrations• Kubernetes architecture and operations• React / TypeScript• Scaling engineering organizations through rapid headcount growth• Founder or very early-stage startup experienceWe Will Not ConsiderThis role will not be a fit for:• Engineering managers who are no longer hands-on technically• Leaders who have stopped coding and want a pure people-management position• Candidates whose experience is primarily consulting without end-to-end product ownership• Candidates whose background has been exclusively in highly structured, slower-moving environments and who have not demonstrated startup-level deployment speed• Candidates who cannot work on-site in New York City five days per weekWhy Consider It?This is an opportunity to join a well-funded Series A company at a major scaling point and help shape the engineering organization rather than simply manage an established structure. The company was founded in 2024 and is backed by more than $100M in funding from leading technology investors. You’ll have direct influence over:Architecture. Engineering culture. Hiring. Performance systems. Team structure. Infrastructure. Product delivery. The founders previously built a business to approximately $100M in annual revenue, and the current company is now scaling aggressively within the enterprise finance software market.
