About Us: We are a profitable health-tech brand focusing on men's sexual wellness, scaling our revenue target from 5 cr to 40 cr this year. We have cracked Product-Market Fit and are now rebuilding our core engine to handle an 8x traffic multiplier. Because of our niche, user data is highly sensitive. [Expected Compensation Range: ₹35,00,000 – ₹55,00,000 per annum] The Role: The Permanent Player-Coach We do not want an Engineering Manager who only manages Jira boards, nor do we want a lone-wolf architect. This is a hands-on Engineering Manager role. We expect a 60/40 split: you will spend the majority of your time writing the hardest architectural code and the remaining managing the humans writing the rest. Experience Range: 8 to 12 years of backend development, with proven architectural responsibilities, system design and team management experience. The 6-Month Trajectory: ● Months 1-2 (Heavy Architecture): Your focus will be architecting the AWS-to-Zoho pipelines and queues, getting your hands dirty in the codebase, and earning the technical respect of the current team. ● Months 3-6+ (The Steady State): You will take full ownership of the tech org and begin exploring the manager side of the role. You will be building critical features and running the Weekly Triage, conducting 1-on-1s, and partnering with the existing Tech Lead to optimize sprint delivery. You’ll begin representing the engineering function at the org level and with various internal/external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: ● Architect the Core (The "Player"): Design and build the resilient integration layer between our systems and the Zoho ecosystem. ● Lead the Team (The "Coach"): Partner with our existing Technical Lead (who will act as your elite Delivery Lead). Run the Weekly Triage, enforce strict Kanban flow, and protect the team from scope creep. ● Own System Security: Ensure secure API design, implementing data encryption, payload masking, and strict access controls to prevent data breaches of highly sensitive patient histories. ● Manage Technical Debt: Establish proper coding standards and automated testing thresholds without bringing feature velocity to a halt. ● Mentorship: Upskill a team of 5-6 junior developers with the empathy and patience to turn them into enterprise-grade engineers. ● Pair With The Product Management Function: Partner with the product management function to streamline the roadmap. ● Stakeholder Management: Be the face of the engineering organization for internal/external stakeholders. Requirements: ● 8 to 12 years of software engineering experience, with a proven track record of managing at least one small team through a rapid scaling phase (the "1 to 10" journey). ● Senior-level proficiency in backend architecture (Node.js) and relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL). Frontend experience, while not mandatory, will be a BIG plus.* ● Deep, practical, hands-on experience designing and managing message queues and asynchronous background jobs. ● Experience integrating complex third-party enterprise suites (specifically CRMs) and handling massive traffic spikes. ● High empathy and low ego; you must know how to partner with an existing, hard-working startup team rather than dictating changes on day one. ● Working knowledge of DevOps workflows on any of the public clouds (AWS*, GCP, Azure)
