Engineering Manager

Working for an industry leading, high-growth SaaS business with some of the biggest brand names in the world as customers, the Engineering Manager will act as a player=-coach, splitting their time between managing a team of 6 Engineers and hands-on coding.The Engineering Manager will be responsible for: Setting the technical strategy, architecture and roadmap for the team, in line with wider engineering and product goalsLeading, coaching and growing a top-tier team of engineers, ranging from Staff level to ‘Mid’Leading design reviews and driving consistent API and architecture standards across teams and servicesWorking closely with counterparts in product management, balancing feasibility, priorities and strategyAnticipating and resolving complex issues that cross team boundariesHelping to spot gaps in the team, develop people and hiring the skills/people needed to progressStay hands-on with coding, complex technical challenges and architectureThe Engineering Manager will have:Managed other engineersStrong hands on experience with Java or ScalaExperience with a cloud platform e.g. AWS, GCP or AzureExperience with REST API’s, Docker, Kubernetes and ideally Apache SparkGreat communication skills and stakeholder managementCandidate will come from roles such as Engineering Lead, Engineering Manager, Technical Lead, etc.The company can offer a great package on top of your basic salary, including a bonus, private healthcare, a generous pension and substantial stock component.
