Engineering Manager – Mobile

Location: BengaluruAbout the OpportunityWe are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager – Mobile to lead mobile engineering teams and drive the development of high-quality, scalable, and reliable digital products.

The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in native mobile application development, cloud-based architectures, and engineering leadership, along with a proven ability to manage complex projects, mentor technical teams, and align engineering initiatives with business objectives.Key Responsibilities1. Engineering Execution & DeliveryOversee the complete software development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality mobile applications and backend services.Drive Agile execution across multiple sprints and releases, ensuring alignment with product priorities and business objectives.Define engineering roadmaps in collaboration with Product, Design, and Business teams.Lead initiatives focused on technical debt reduction, application scalability, performance optimization, and maintainability.Improve CI/CD pipelines through automation, testing, security, and observability enhancements.2. Technical LeadershipLead the design, development, and deployment of scalable native mobile applications for Android and iOS platforms.Provide technical guidance on mobile architecture, application performance, security, and engineering best practices.Drive the adoption of modern architectures, including microservices, event-driven systems, and API-first development.Collaborate with Principal Architects and engineering leadership to align technical strategies with organizational goals.Ensure seamless integration between mobile applications, RESTful APIs, backend services, and cloud infrastructure.3. People Leadership & Team DevelopmentLead, mentor, and develop mobile engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, career development discussions, and succession planning.Manage hiring, team growth, performance management, and employee engagement.Build and maintain a high-performing, collaborative, and inclusive engineering culture.4. Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner with Product, Business, Design, and Architecture teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.Coordinate cross-functional dependencies and ensure effective collaboration across engineering teams.Collaborate with geographically distributed teams across different time zones.Manage stakeholder expectations while balancing delivery timelines, technical constraints, and business priorities.Drive engineering decisions that balance speed of delivery, scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.5. Operational Excellence & Risk ManagementEnsure application reliability, availability, and performance through proactive monitoring and incident management.Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive measures.Define and maintain security, performance, and availability SLAs in accordance with governance standards.Identify and mitigate technical, operational, and delivery risks.Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, development practices, and release management.Required Technical Skills & Experience12+ years of overall software engineering experience, including RESTful API development, server-side technologies, and cloud-based architectures.7+ years of experience in native mobile application development, with strong expertise in Android and/or iOS platforms.3+ years of direct people management experience, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.Proven experience leading engineering teams in dynamic, product-focused environments with complex technical and business requirements.Demonstrated success in building, scaling, and maintaining native mobile applications.Strong knowledge of mobile development technologies and frameworks, including Kotlin, Swift, and Firebase.Expertise in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.Strong understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and API integrations.Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB.Hands-on experience with CI/CD automation, DevOps practices, automated testing, and modern software engineering tools.Strong understanding of mobile application security, performance optimization, and release management.Required Soft SkillsExcellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.Deep understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple dependencies and deliver high-quality releases.Strong risk management, issue resolution, and process improvement capabilities.Ability to align engineering priorities with business outcomes and influence cross-functional stakeholders.A proactive mindset focused on innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.Education & Preferred ExperienceBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.Experience working with highly available, large-scale enterprise systems and performance-critical applications.Previous experience in retail technology, consumer-facing digital products, or cloud-native product development is preferred.Write to shruthi@addaptech.com
