South Sumter High School values professionalism, inclusivity, and continuous improvement in teaching and learning.Role Description The English Teacher at South Sumter High School is a full-time, on-site role based in Bushnell, FL. This role is responsible for planning and delivering standards-based English language arts instruction, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening, to high school learners. Day-to-day tasks include creating lesson plans and assessments, facilitating classroom discussions, providing individualized support and feedback, and maintaining accurate records of learner progress. The English Teacher collaborates with colleagues on curriculum alignment, participates in school initiatives and professional development, and supports a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment. Additional responsibilities may include communicating with families/guardians, supervising extracurricular activities, and contributing to school-wide events as needed.Qualifications Candidates should possess strong English Teaching and Teaching skills for high school learners.Candidates should possess effective Lesson Planning and Education-related knowledge, including curriculum and assessment design.Candidates should possess clear Communication skills for interacting with learners, families/guardians, and colleagues.Relevant bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.Valid or eligible state teaching certification/licensure in English or Language Arts for secondary grades.Ability to differentiate instruction, manage classrooms effectively, and support diverse learning styles and backgrounds.Commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory practices and ongoing professional growth.Experience integrating literacy with Science/STEM themes or interdisciplinary projects is beneficial.
