English Teacher for Seniors

Uniting Care Day Centre is looking for an English teacher to lead regular language classes for older adults in Riga.We are looking for a patient, warm and attentive teacher who enjoys working with people later in life and can create a supportive learning environment.The classes will be held for two groups:• beginners — older adults with little or no previous knowledge of English;• continuing learners — older adults with basic English skills.The planned format is:• 2 classes per week;• 1 hour per group;• both classes can take place on the same day, one after another.The goal of the classes is not only language learning, but also confidence, communication, social connection and the joy of learning something new.Responsibilities:• Plan and lead English language classes for older adults.• Adapt the learning process to different levels and learning speeds.• Create a calm, respectful and encouraging classroom atmosphere.• Help participants build confidence in using English in simple everyday situations.• Prepare simple learning materials when needed.• Work in cooperation with the Uniting Care Day Centre team.Requirements:• Experience teaching English.• Clear and supportive communication style.• Ability to explain language in a simple and accessible way.• Patience, respect and attentiveness when working with older adults.• Availability to teach on-site in Riga.Preferred qualifications:• Degree, certificate or professional qualification related to English teaching.• Previous experience working with older adults.• Experience teaching beginner-level students.• Interest in social impact, inclusion and lifelong learning.Uniting Care Day Centre is a place where older adults can meet, learn, stay active and spend meaningful time together.If you would like to help older adults gain new skills, confidence and the joy of learning, we would be happy to hear from you.
