Role DescriptionAn English Tutor / Academic Instructor is responsible for providing structured English-language instruction and academic support to learners. The role focuses on developing students' speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, comprehension, and academic communication skills while adapting teaching methods to individual learning needs.Key responsibilities include:Planning and delivering engaging English lessons based on learner objectives and academic requirements.Teaching grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, writing, listening, speaking, and communication skills.Developing lesson plans, exercises, assessments, presentations, worksheets, and supplementary learning materials.Assessing learners' English proficiency and identifying strengths, weaknesses, and learning gaps.Providing one-to-one and group tutoring sessions.Offering individualized instruction, academic guidance, coaching, and constructive feedback.Supporting learners with essays, reports, presentations, academic writing, research skills, and comprehension.Preparing learners for examinations, interviews, presentations, and English-language proficiency assessments where applicable.Monitoring learner progress through assignments, quizzes, assessments, participation, and regular evaluations.Creating interactive activities such as discussions, role-plays, presentations, writing exercises, and practical communication tasks.Adapting teaching strategies and learning materials to different abilities, learning styles, and academic goals.Encouraging learners to develop confidence, critical thinking, independent-learning skills, and effective communication.Providing clear explanations of complex English-language and academic concepts.Maintaining accurate records of attendance, lesson plans, assessments, learner progress, and academic performance.Communicating with students, parents, academic coordinators, teachers, and other relevant stakeholders regarding learner development.Identifying students who require additional academic support and developing appropriate improvement strategies.Creating a supportive, inclusive, respectful, and motivating learning environment.Using online teaching platforms, virtual classrooms, learning-management systems, educational applications, multimedia resources, and AI-assisted learning tools where appropriate.Reviewing and updating teaching materials to reflect current educational practices and learner requirements.Supporting curriculum development, academic workshops, language programs, and extracurricular learning activities where required.Evaluating teaching effectiveness and adjusting instructional approaches based on learner outcomes and feedback.Maintaining professional standards, confidentiality, academic integrity, and appropriate safeguarding practices.Participating in academic meetings, professional-development activities, curriculum reviews, and educational initiatives.Continuously improving teaching quality, learner engagement, academic outcomes, and English-language development.QualificationsBachelor's degree in English, Education, Linguistics, Literature, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field.Teaching qualifications such as TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, DELTA, PGCE, or equivalent credentials are advantageous.Strong command of written and spoken English.Excellent grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, writing, communication, and presentation skills.Strong understanding of English-language teaching methodologies and academic learning principles.Ability to develop structured lesson plans, educational materials, assessments, and learning activities.Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and classroom-management skills.Ability to adapt teaching methods to different learner abilities, learning styles, and academic objectives.Strong assessment, feedback, coaching, and learner-support capabilities.Familiarity with online teaching platforms, learning-management systems, digital educational resources, and virtual classroom technologies.Knowledge of academic English and English proficiency examinations is beneficial.Strong ability to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively.Patient, supportive, approachable, professional, and learner-focused attitude.Strong time-management and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with educators, academic coordinators, parents, and students.Knowledge of AI-assisted educational tools and digital learning technologies is advantageous.High level of professionalism, integrity, creativity, adaptability, and commitment to learner success.
