Responsibilities
Instructional StrategiesPlan, prepare using a backward design approach, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning Provide ELL push-in and/or pull-out instruction to students in grades Kindergarten-5th gradeAssist in developing language acquisition support plans (ELL plans) for all ELL students and work with classroom teachers to implement plansWork cooperatively with colleagues (i.e., classroom teachers, Special Education teacher, RISE, and MISE, etc.) to adapt materials and differentiate instruction to make sure all students can participateProvide professional development to Pre-K staff on how to support English Language LearnersDemonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgroundsUse small group and one-on-one instruction when implementing strategies for all learners in the classroom Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instructionIntellectually engage students during the delivery of lessons using Webb’s Depth of Knowledge to inspire curiosity, reinforce the joy of learning, and enable all students to thriveBe a problem solver; You are not frustrated by setbacks — you see them as an opportunity for growthStudents Growth and Development Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal assessmentsMaintain proper documentation to comply with school policies (i.e., Report Cards, Data Collection, Google Gradebook, etc)Assist in administering required language proficiency and academic achievement tests for determining placement for students in grades Kindergarten-5th grade, along with ongoing monitoring of student progressProvide appropriate feedback on student work/assessment and set goals for improvementEncourage and monitor the progress of individual students and adjust classroom instruction as neededUse student work and assessment data to inform instruction and targeted intervention that drives student achievementImplement assessments that measure progress towards academic standardsClassroom ManagementManage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and practicing rules and proceduresEstablish and maintain positive relationships with students to ensure their success in the classroomProvide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behaviorMaintain discipline in accordance with the school’s Code of ConductCommunicationEstablish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, and supervisors Maintain a professional level of confidentiality concerning personal informationUse effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community membersDevelop meaningful relationships with students and familiesOtherKnow the school’s vision Ensure that your instructional practice is aligned with the school’s vision Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgroundsParticipate in an annual two-week preserviceHave intellectual curiosity that motivates you to master new skills and to embrace the opportunity for continual growth and improvement through regular feedback and coaching that helps you achieve your goalsSupports the goals of the school and follows school policiesPerforms any other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisorParticipates in grade-level, school meetings, and other school events
