FiberEdge Services · Tennessee, United States
Apply & track with Apply EdgeAbout the RoleFiberEdge Services is building a high-performance field fiber team that supports hyperscale data center and network infrastructure projects across the United States. We are adding an entry-level Field Optical Network Specialist to that team. Think of it as a paid apprenticeship: you will travel with our senior technicians, learn the trade hands-on, and build toward a career in fiber optics. This is the right role for someone who wants a way into the AI buildout, data center construction, or telecom, and who would rather earn while learning than sit in a classroom. You do not need fiber experience. You need a strong work ethic, attention to detail, a clean record, and the flexibility to travel. What You Will Learn and DoYou will start by supporting senior specialists and take on more responsibility as your skills grow. Over time you will learn to:
- Fiber testing and characterization: Test end-to-end fiber connectivity using industry-standard equipment, including OTDRs, power meters and light sources, CD/PMD analyzers, and fiber end-face inspection scopes.
- Connector cleaning and inspection: Inspect and clean fiber connectors using multiple methods so every link meets spec.
- Inside plant work: Route and dress fiber, work in patch panels, organize racks and cabinets, and label everything cleanly.
- Documentation: Assist with test reports, redline drawings, fiber path and demarcation documentation, and test data software such as EXFO Toolbox.
- Project support: Help keep project schedules on track and represent FiberEdge professionally in live client environments. What We Are Looking For
- 0 to 1 year of experience. No fiber background required. We will train you.
- Willing and able to travel 100% of the time nationwide on a 3 weeks on, 3 days off rotation.
- Clean background check and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (minimal speeding tickets).
- Mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and take pride in clean, accurate workmanship.
- Reliable, coachable, and comfortable working as part of a small field crew.
- Comfortable with basic computer and office software for reports and documentation.
- Able to stand, kneel, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs in data center and telecom environments.Nice to have, but not required: fiber or low-voltage coursework, a Fiber Optic Association certification, electrical, IT, or military background, or experience in construction or the trades.Compensation and Benefits
- $28.00 to $30.00 per hour to start.
- Lots of overtime opportunity, paid at 1.5 times your hourly rate.
- Per diem, lodging, and travel expenses covered while on the road.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance.
