This search is focused entirely on laboratories providing analytical testing of drinking water, wastewater, groundwater, surface water and stormwater.About the RoleWe are interested in professionals currently working as:Environmental Laboratory ManagersWater Laboratory ManagersLaboratory DirectorsTechnical Managers or DirectorsChemistry ManagersQuality ManagersLaboratory Supervisors ready to progress into managementResponsibilitiesManaging the daily operation of an environmental water-testing laboratoryLeading teams of laboratory analysts, chemists, microbiologists and supervisorsOverseeing the analysis of drinking water, wastewater, groundwater, surface water and stormwater samplesManaging sample volumes, laboratory capacity, turnaround times and workflowEnsuring testing is completed in accordance with applicable EPA and state-approved methodsMaintaining compliance with NELAP, TNI, ELAP and ISO/IEC 17025 requirementsPreparing for regulatory, accreditation and client auditsInvestigating non-conformances and implementing corrective and preventive actionsMaintaining data quality, chain-of-custody procedures and defensible laboratory resultsSupporting method validation, instrument implementation and laboratory expansionManaging staffing, training, budgets, productivity and operational performanceWorking with project management and client-service teams to meet customer requirementsQualificationsProfessional experience within an environmental water-testing laboratoryPrevious responsibility for laboratory employees, departments or technical operationsStrong knowledge of regulated drinking water or wastewater analysisFamiliarity with EPA analytical methods and environmental laboratory quality systemsExperience supporting audits, accreditation and corrective actionsStrong operational, technical and people-leadership capabilitiesA degree in chemistry, environmental science, microbiology or a related discipline is preferredSkillsDrinking water and wastewater compliance testingPFAS analysis by EPA Methods 533, 537.1 or 1633Metals analysis using ICP-MS or ICP-OESVolatile and semi-volatile organic compounds using GC-MSIon chromatographyWet chemistry and inorganic analysisEnvironmental microbiologyNutrients, anions, solids, BOD, COD and TOCSafe Drinking Water Act and Clean Water Act testing requirementsNPDES-related laboratory testingOpportunities will vary by location, technical focus, seniority and compensation.
