Job DescriptionFifth Estate Asset Management is an alternative investment manager specialising in providing capital to high growth businesses across both listed and unlisted markets.Following the successful launch of our third Emerging Companies Fund, the firm is now looking to expand its listed equities business within the small and microcap space. We are looking for an investment professional to join us as we execute on our next leg of growth. You will be operating as part of a highly regarded, tight knit team which is very much performance driven and strongly aligned with our investors.Whist we require at least 5 years of experience in listed markets, we are flexible on seniority. You might be an analyst ready for more ownership of your ideas, or an experienced senior analyst who wants to play a bigger role in portfolio decisions and help build out our small cap capability. We'll shape the role, title and package to the experience of the right person.Importantly, the right candidate must also have a passion for investing, strong attention to detail, be a self-starter with an ability to work autonomously, while at the same time also being able to contribute as part of a team.Key Responsibilities IncludeAssist in the identification and screening of potential investment opportunities Generate, research and own investment ideas across ASX-listed small and emerging companies; however, given the boutique nature of the team dynamic you will also likely be required to provide analysis of unlisted assets from time to time Building and maintaining financial modelsIdentify market mis-pricings and where market expectations are wrong on earnings, margins, cash conversion or the balance sheetMeet management teams, attend site visits and conferences, and turn what you learn into clear investment callsContribute to portfolio construction, position sizing and risk management, in line with your experienceAssess capital raisings, placements and IPO opportunitiesHelp shape and grow our listed equities business, including engaging with investorsQualificationsEssential At least 5 years' experience in listed equities markets, on the buy side or sell sideRelevant post graduate qualificationsA passion for investment marketsSolid exposure to ASX small and microcap marketsStrong modelling and excel skills Highly motivated, proactive and curious mindset with an ability to take responsibility for outcomes A forensic approach - you read the notes, reconcile the numbers and spot what doesn't add upClear, concise writing and the conviction to back your views, with the discipline to change them when the facts changeAbility to work in a small team, with a focus on co-ordination, collaboration and teamworkOptionalExperience in unlisted or pre-IPO investing, private equity or venture capitalWhy Fifth EstateA ground-floor opportunity to help build a growing listed equities businessDirect access to the CIO and real influence over investment decisionsVisibility across both listed and unlisted marketsA dynamic aligned team with a successful track record and the demonstrated ability to raise fundsA role and package structured around your experienceBased in our Sydney office
