Serving a vibrant, multilingual community in Lawrenceville, Jenkins Elementary is dedicated to creating a supportive learning environment where students are empowered to reach their full potential, embrace diverse perspectives, and succeed academically and socially.Role OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated, full time ESOL Teacher to join our team at Jenkins Elementary School. In this role, you will design and deliver direct instruction tailored to support English Language Learners in acquiring language proficiency across content areas. You will collaborate with general education teachers, instructional specialists, and families to foster language acquisition, ensure academic success, and help students master the district's Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum.QualificationsRequired:Certification: Active Georgia Educator Certification in ESOL, or the ability to obtain certification/endorsement as required by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC).Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher from a GaPSC approved college or university.Preferred:Previous teaching experience working with multilingual learners in an elementary school setting.Core Skills & Competencies:In depth knowledge of the GCPS Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum and language acquisition strategies across subject areas.Mastery of research based instructional strategies, including scaffolded instruction, visual/nonverbal representation techniques, and explicit content vocabulary teaching.Ability to utilize formative and summative assessments to measure language growth and adjust instruction accordingly.Proficiency in integrating classroom technology to support student engagement and language learning.Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, school administration, and multilingual families.Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction & Language Acquisition: Plan and deliver direct, differentiated instruction to promote English language development; adapt core curriculum materials using visual tools, language cues, and scaffolded vocabulary strategies.Assessment & Progress Tracking: Administer screening tools and language proficiency assessments; monitor student learning through formative techniques and use assessment data to plan targeted instruction.Classroom Management: Establish an inclusive, orderly, and culturally responsive learning environment; define clear behavior expectations and foster mutual respect among students.Parent & Stakeholder Collaboration: Maintain frequent, effective communication with parents or guardians in ways that support student learning and build strong home-school partnerships.Professional Responsibilities: Participate in professional growth opportunities, collaborate with school staff to support schoolwide goals, and maintain accurate records, attendance, and student reports.Ready to Apply?Submit your official application with Gwinnett County Public Schools online via the GCPS AppliTrack Portal.Application Checklist & RequirementsTo complete your official application, please ensure you have the following completed and uploaded:Georgia MyPSC Account: Register for an account on the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) website.Degree Verification: Official or unofficial transcripts showing a conferred Bachelor's degree or higher.Georgia Educator Ethics Assessment: Completion certificate or passing score report for GACE Test 351.GACE Content Assessment: Copy of your passing score report for ESOL (Note: If not yet passed, this requirement must be fulfilled within your first year of employment).5 Year Employment History: Complete, ordered work history for at least the last 5 consecutive years (any gaps in employment must be briefly explained).Professional References: Online reference survey sent to a professional work email address (personal email addresses, friends, or family are not accepted):Current Teachers: Latest reference from your current principal, plus an additional reference from an Assistant Principal or Department Head.Student Teachers / Recent Graduates: References from your university supervisor and cooperating teacher.Non Traditional Candidates: Reference from your most recent direct supervisor.
