ETP Operator (Effluent Treatment Plant Operator)
Department / Reporting
Reports to Engineering Manager
Plant Overview
Naturelle LLC operates a 100 KLD Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) comprising equalization, physico-chemical treatment (coagulation-flocculation, DAF), biological treatment (anaerobic digester/clarifier, two-stage aeration with anoxic/aeration/MBR), sludge handling (sludge holding tanks, volute micro press, filter press), and a chlorine/citric acid-dosed treated water polishing stage before discharge or reuse.
Job Purpose
Operate, monitor, and maintain the ETP on a shift basis to ensure consistent treated water quality, regulatory compliance, and safe, efficient plant operation in line with the plant's P&ID and process flow design.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate and monitor the full ETP process train: Collection Tank → Screen Chamber → O&G Trap → Equalization Tank → Reaction/Coagulation/Flocculation Tanks → DAF → Primary Clarifier → Buffer Tank → Anaerobic Digester/Clarifier → Aeration (Stage-1) → Secondary Clarifier → Anoxic/Aeration/MBR → Treated Water Tank.
• Start up, shut down, and adjust dosing systems (Lime & Acid, Alum, Alum & Poly, Chlorine & Citric Acid) to maintain target pH, coagulation, and disinfection parameters.
• Monitor and log key process parameters each shift (flow, pH, DO, MLSS, sludge levels) and escalate deviations promptly.
• Operate sludge handling equipment — sludge holding tanks (primary and biological), volute micro press, and coordinate with the existing filter press for dewatering.
• Perform routine checks, minor troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on pumps, blowers, dosing pumps, MBR system, and instrumentation (flow meters, pressure indicators) as per the P&ID.
• Maintain daily operating logs, consumable (chemical) usage records, and shift handover reports.
• Ensure safe handling and storage of treatment chemicals (lime, alum, polyelectrolyte, chlorine, citric acid) per MSDS and site EHS procedures.
• Coordinate with the Maintenance team for equipment breakdowns, calibration, and spares requirements.
• Support statutory compliance — treated water quality reporting and liaison during regulatory inspections/audits.
• Follow lock-out/tag-out and confined space entry procedures where applicable (tanks, clarifiers, digesters).
Qualifications & Experience
• ITI / Diploma in Chemical, Environmental, Mech or civil
• Prior experience operating an ETP/STP, preferably with biological treatment (ASP/SBR/MBR) and DAF systems, in an FMCG or industrial manufacturing setting.
• Working knowledge of dosing systems, sludge dewatering equipment, and basic instrumentation.
• Willingness to work rotational shifts.
Skills
• Ability to read and follow P&ID / process flow diagrams.
• Basic troubleshooting of pumps, blowers, and dosing systems.
• Attention to detail for logging and parameter tracking.
• Safety-conscious approach to chemical handling and confined-space work.Work Environment
Plant/shop-floor role involving exposure to wastewater treatment chemicals, rotating equipment, and outdoor tank areas. PPE compliance mandatory.
