Reporting into the FC this role will own the accounting and financial reporting for a new European insurance entity and its UK branch, ensuring accurate, timely and well-controlled delivery. As capacity allows, the role will also contribute to wider group reporting, treasury and other finance priorities.Key responsibilities include:Own the end-to-end accounting and financial reporting for the European insurance entity and its UK branch, including the integrity of the general ledger and timely completion of period-end close activitiesPrepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual reporting, with clear analysis and explanations of key movements, judgements and variancesCoordinate regulatory and statutory reporting requirements, working effectively with local advisers, auditors and other stakeholdersSupport the establishment and ongoing development of robust financial controls, processes and reporting for the new entity and branchLead the finance input into external audit and respond to technical accounting, regulatory and other information requestsProvide dependable leadership, constructive challenges and effective support across priority finance mattersContribute to wider group reporting and consolidation activities as required, helping to improve the quality and efficiency of reporting across the GroupSkills requiredThorough understanding of insurance accounting, financial reporting and control requirementsAbility to work independently, resolve complex issues and apply sound judgement while maintaining close attention to detailStrong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with senior leaders, auditors, regulators and external advisorsAbility to establish and improve processes and controls in a developing operating environmentQualifications and ExperienceQualified accountant with a minimum of three years’ post-qualification experienceSignificant insurance accounting and financial reporting experience is essentialExperience of accounting for regulated insurance entities and branches is highly desirableEuropean regulatory reporting experience would be beneficial
