Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing public health initiatives, coordinating with hospitals and health institutions, and ensuring effective implementation of national and state health schemes. The role involves supervising senior health officials, reviewing operational performance, and advising on improvements in service delivery, infrastructure, and resource allocation. The Ex DGHS also represents the department in high-level meetings, contributes to policy development, and supports emergency response and health crisis management.Qualifications Extensive experience in public health administration, health systems management, or medical services leadership at a senior level.Recognized medical or public health qualification (e.g., MBBS with postgraduate specialization, MD, MPH, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.Strong knowledge of government health policies, regulatory frameworks, and national health programs relevant to India.Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage large-scale programs, and coordinate with multiple government and non-government stakeholders.Proficiency in strategic planning, policy formulation, budgeting, and monitoring and evaluation of health initiatives.Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills, with a commitment to ethical, inclusive, and non-discriminatory practices.Proven experience in handling public health emergencies, implementing disease control measures, and improving healthcare quality standards.
