We currently have a number of permanent staff and we are looking to complement them. This role offers a chance to make a lasting impact on both the organization and the wider Nelson community.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESGovernance, Operational Planning and LeadershipDevelop and execute strategic and operational plans aligned with NSA’s strategic direction.Ensure organizational operations meet the needs of members, staff, the Board, and the community.Provide executive oversight of day-to-day operations with efficiency and professionalism, including scheduling, facilities, equipment, systems, events, and service delivery.Establish and maintain operational procedures that support consistent delivery of NSA programs/services.Draft and update organizational policies; implement procedures and ensure compliance with NSA bylaws, constitution and provincial nonprofit law (e.g. BC Societies Act).Maintain secure staff records and uphold confidentiality.Support Board operations, including meeting agendas and documentation, board orientation, training, and succession planning.Program Management Provide strategic oversight for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of all NSA programs and services.Ensure programs align with NSA’s mission and Board priorities.Monitor program quality and seek continuous improvement.Oversee delivery of all programming, working with the Technical Director and other staff as appropriate.Direct program scheduling for practices, games, tournaments, camps, playdowns, special events, etc.Provide executive oversight and support for Rep programs and the Kootenay United Football Academy.Ensure all communications and the NSA website are current and engaging.Provide executive oversight of special projects from planning through completion.Human Resource LeadershipRecruit, mentor, train, and retain qualified staff and volunteers.Supervise and evaluate assigned staff and oversee the completion of performance evaluations.Identify staffing needs for programs and operations.Oversee HR practices, policies, roles, and job postings.Provide appropriate operational direction to staff and ensure clear accountability for responsibilities.Foster a safe, positive, and healthy work environment.Reporting and Club RepresentationPrepare monthly operational summaries for the Board.Deliver program, financial, and operational reports at the Annual General Meeting.Serve as the senior organizational representative for strategic partnerships, governance-level relationships, and community engagement.Liaise with partner organizations including municipal, regional, and provincial soccer bodies.Maintain effective relationships with the City of Nelson and other external entities/service providers.Financial Management and Fund DevelopmentManage NSA’s financial operations including quarterly reports.Lead development of annual operational and technical budgets.Provide financial and performance updates to the Board.Ensure compliance with funding agreements, government grants and CRA rules.Grow revenue via sponsors, grants, fundraising, donors, merchandise, and registration.Support preparation of grant applications such as the BC Gaming Grant.Oversee approved sponsorship agreements, invoicing and related administrative requirements.Ensure operational purchasing and supply expenditures are managed within approved budgets.Club Operations, Facilities and CompliancePromote and market NSA programs and activities.Oversee registration processes for all age groups and programs.Oversee day-to-day facility and field operations to support safe, effective and reliable programming.Work with staff to ensure indoor and outdoor facilities and fields are maintained and ready for use.Coordinate with the City of Nelson and relevant partners regarding facility and field issues.Oversee facility rentals and relationships with other user groups.Coordinate vendor and contractor services within approved agreements and budgets.Oversee procurement, distribution, storage and inventory of club equipment, apparel and other supplies.Ensure appropriate systems are maintained for registrations, schedules, volunteers, Criminal Record Checks, coaching certifications, clinics, sponsorships, gear and other operational information.Ensure communications from BC Soccer and regional bodies are distributed to relevant groups and member and community inquiries are addressed or appropriately directed.Oversee logistics for club events, including banquets, appreciation events, photo day, concession, etc.Support implementation of club health and safety procedures at facilities and events.Review and update organizational policies annually.Oversee organizational records including contracts, insurance, and compliance documentation.Maintain NSA’s Club Charter/Club License status and ensure compliance.WHAT YOU BRINGMinimum 5 years in a senior leadership role (Executive Director, CEO, or equivalent).Degree in Recreation Management, Business Administration, Leadership, Non-Profit Administration, Public Relations, or a comparable blend of education and experience.Outstanding verbal and written communication skills across diverse stakeholder groups.Strong financial acumen including budget management and revenue-generating experience.Strong organizational and operational management skills, with the ability to coordinate people, programs, facilities, systems and competing priorities.Passion for
