Apply & track with Apply EdgeBALLET LUBBOCKEXECUTIVE DIRECTORPOSITION SUMMARYThe Executive Director is Ballet Lubbock’s chief administrative and executive leader, responsible for the organization’s daily operations, financial health, organizational development, fundraising, community relationships, and long-term sustainability.Working closely with the Artistic Director and Board of Directors, the Executive Director translates Ballet Lubbock’s mission and strategic priorities into effective action and ensures the organization has the resources, infrastructure, and relationships needed to support artistic excellence, quality dance education, community engagement, and sustainable growth.The Executive Director serves as a principal fundraiser, ambassador, advocate, and public representative for Ballet Lubbock and will foster a culture grounded in collaboration, accountability, transparency, inclusion, and respect.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESOrganizational Leadership & StrategyProvide strategic and day-to-day administrative leadership.Partner closely with the Artistic Director and Board of Directors.Implement the organization’s strategic plan and monitor progress toward goals.Support the three pillars of Ballet Lubbock: The Company, The School, and Community Engagement.Identify opportunities for responsible growth, innovation, increased visibility, and community impact.Balance long-term vision with daily operational needs.Maintain strong regional and national arts relationships.Serve as a visible and compelling voice for Ballet Lubbock.Maintain a strong, respectful, and collaborative relationship with the Artistic Director.Ensure administrative, financial, development, marketing, and operational resources support artistic and educational priorities.Collaborate on programming, staffing, budgeting, partnerships, and long-term planning.Establish instructional staff pay and guest artist contracts with the Artistic Director within approved budgets.Maintain clear communication and appropriate distinction between artistic and administrative leadership.Financial & Administrative LeadershipOversee financial operations and fiscal health in partnership with the Treasurer and Finance Committee.Develop and manage the annual operating budget for Board approval.Monitor revenue, expenses, cash flow, projections, and financial performance.Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to the Board.Maintain appropriate financial controls, policies, records, and procedures.Support long-term financial sustainability and responsible resource allocation.Oversee administrative operations, staffing needs, systems, contracts, and organizational records.Oversee School administrative materials, policies, scholarship guidelines, and family-facing resources.Staff Leadership & CultureRecruit, retain, develop, and evaluate staff in accordance with Board-approved policies.Establish clear expectations, responsibilities, and accountability.Foster a healthy, collaborative, inclusive, and people-centered workplace.Encourage professional development, communication, initiative, and shared responsibility.Address challenges and performance concerns promptly and constructively.Development & FundraisingServe as a principal fundraiser and relationship-builder.Cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors and major gifts.Expand corporate, foundation, government, sponsorship, and other contributed support.Oversee grant research, applications, reporting, and compliance.Develop compelling fundraising materials and a clear case for support.Lead donor cultivation, acknowledgment, recognition, and stewardship.Coordinate fundraising events and evaluate their effectiveness.Engage Board members and volunteers in fundraising and relationship development.Ensure compliance with the Gift Acceptance Policy and Donor Recognition Policy.Build a sustainable culture of philanthropy throughout the organization.Board & GovernanceSupport the Board in fulfilling its governance responsibilities.Implement Board policies and operate under the authority of the Board.Provide clear, timely, and useful information for Board decision-making.Prepare Board materials, budgets, reports, and annual meeting calendars.Support strategic planning and organizational evaluation.Work with Board leadership to cultivate and develop Board members.Support committee chairs and encourage meaningful Board participation in fundraising, advocacy, and community engagement.Maintain a healthy distinction between governance and day-to-day management.Marketing, Communications & Public RelationsOversee organizational marketing, communications, public relations, and outreach.Ensure Ballet Lubbock’s mission, programs, and impact are communicated clearly and consistently.Strengthen organizational storytelling and public visibility.Represent Ballet Lubbock at public, civic, professional, and community events.Serve as a principal spokesperson.Oversee appropriate marketing and communications vendors and contracts.Support audience development and meaningful engagement with current and prospective audiences.Community Engagement & PartnershipsStrengthen Ballet Lubbock’s role as a valued cultural and educational institution in West Texas.Build relationships with school districts, Texas Tech University, businesses, nonprofits, arts organizations, civic leaders, and community partners.Develop meaningful partnerships that expand Ballet Lubbock’s reach and impact.Support programs and initiatives that introduce new audiences to ballet and dance.Represent Ballet Lubbock positively throughout the region.Develop regional and national professional relationships that strengthen the organization.Program & School SupportSupport the Artistic Director in delivering high-quality Company, School, and Community Engagement programs.Ensure programs have appropriate financial, staffing, marketing, production, and administrative support.Support the School’s administrative systems, policies, communications, and family experience.Evaluate new initiatives based on mission alignment, artistic and educational value, community impact, financial feasibility, and organizational capacity.Organizational ResponsibilityEnsure compliance with organizational policies and applicable legal requirements.Monitor organizational risks and communicate significant concerns to the Board.Maintain appropriate records, contracts, financial controls, and procedures.Protect Ballet Lubbock’s reputation and institutional integrity.Support inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility throughout organizational practices.Encourage continuous evaluation and improvement.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEThe successful candidate will demonstrate many of the following:Significant leadership experience in a nonprofit, arts, cultural, educational, or similarly mission-driven organization.Ability to balance strategic leadership with day-to-day operational management.Strong financial management and budgeting experience.Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor relationship development.Experience working effectively with a Board of Directors.Strong strategic planning and organizational development skills.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Strong storytelling and public speaking abilities.Demonstrated ability to build relationships across diverse constituencies.Experience recruiting, leading, developing, and evaluating staff.Understanding of nonprofit arts economics and organizational sustainability.Commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility.Entrepreneurial, collaborative, transparent, organization’s long-term health.Strengthen Ballet Lubbock as a leading cultural and educational institution in the region.WORK CONDITIONSPrimarily works in office, studio, theater, and event environments.Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.Position requires physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing stairs, and occasional lifting.Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as organizational activities require.Schedule will vary around performances, rehearsals, Board activities, fundraising events, and
