You will shape the idea with Topper, run pre-production, direct the shoot, and make sure the hand-off to post-production is smooth. This role has real ownership: you will be the person who turns a strong concept into a finished, on-budget shoot, video after video. This is a hands-on role for someone who is equally comfortable in a creative pitch meeting, a budget spreadsheet, and on set calling action.ResponsibilitiesYou will lead every video through four phases, working closely with the writers and production team.Concept and ScriptingWork with writing staff and Topper to develop, refine, and lock video concepts.Help lock packaging early, including title, thumbnail, and hook, so the shoot is built to deliver on them.Work with writers to shape scripts from concept through final draft, balancing creative ambition with budget and logistics.Flag scope, cost, and feasibility risks before a concept is greenlit.Pre-ProductionBreak down the script into a shot list and production requirements.Source, cast, and hire on-camera talent.Work with the UPM and Associate Producer to build props, set pieces, source and secure locations, and hire crew.Build and manage the production budget and schedule.Create and distribute call sheets.Plan all shoot logistics, including permits, travel, transportation, catering, and equipment.ProductionDirect the shoot on set, working with Topper Guild, talent, and crew to capture the script and shot list.Make real-time creative and logistical calls to keep the day on schedule and on budget.Make sure the footage delivers on the planned packaging and hook.Keep a safe, organized, and professional set.Wrap and Close-outCollect and reconcile all receipts and invoices.Close out the budget and report actuals.Settle payments to talent, crew, vendors, and locations.Ensure footage is organized and handed off to post-production as soon as possible.Run a short post-mortem on what worked and what to change next time.Qualifications Required5+ years producing and directing video content, with at least 2 years in a lead producer or director role.A portfolio of shoots you produced and directed, ideally including YouTube or other digital-first content.Strong script development skills and a sharp instinct for concepts, hooks, and story.Working knowledge of YouTube packaging: titles, thumbnails, and retention.Proven experience building and managing production budgets and reconciling them after wrap.Hands-on experience with script breakdowns, shot lists, call sheets, and production schedules.Experience casting and hiring talent and crew, and securing locations.Calm, decisive leadership on set and under time pressure.Clear communicator who can collaborate closely with a creator and a small team. Nice to haveExperience on large-scale, stunt-driven, or challenge-format YouTube videos.Experience on brand partnership or sponsored shoots.Familiarity with permits, insurance, and SAG-AFTRA or non-union talent agreements.Comfort with production tools such as StudioBinder, Movie Magic, Google Sheets, or similar.An existing network of crew, talent, and vendors in Los Angeles.
