About BHSBasic Healthcare Services (BHS) is a not-for-profit organization working to improve access to quality, people-centred primary healthcare for underserved rural and tribal communities in southern Rajasthan. Founded in 2012 by public health practitioners, academics and development professionals, BHS is grounded in the principles of equity, health as a human right, community participation and human dignity.BHS currently operates a network of six AMRIT clinics and provides preventive, promotive and primary healthcare, including maternal and child health, tuberculosis, chronic respiratory and other non-communicable diseases, mental health and physiotherapy. Alongside healthcare delivery, BHS undertakes research and learning to understand the needs of the communities it serves and strengthen primary healthcare.BHS has a growing research portfolio spanning maternal and child health, tuberculosis, occupational health and silicosis, sexual and reproductive health, early childhood development and primary healthcare systems. Our research is closely linked to programme and clinical practice, with a focus on generating evidence that improves services, strengthens programmes and contributes to wider policy and practice.Position OverviewWe are looking for a Research Associate to contribute to BHS’s ongoing research portfolio and strengthen the link between research, clinical practice and programme learning. The role will involve research design and implementation, data analysis, literature reviews, scientific writing and dissemination.The Research Associate will work closely with researchers, clinicians and programme teams to identify relevant research questions, document clinical and programme experiences, analyse outcomes and translate learning from practice into evidence. The role requires strong analytical and writing skills, intellectual curiosity and an interest in producing rigorous research as well as accessible knowledge products for different audiences.Key Responsibilities:Contribute to the design and implementation of ongoing research studies, including developing research protocols, tools and study plans.Work with research, clinical and programme teams to identify and document learnings emerging from practice and translate them into research and learning agendas.Contribute to quantitative and qualitative data management, analysis, interpretation and sensemaking.Conduct literature reviews and synthesize evidence relevant to BHS’s research and programme areas.Document programme processes and outputs, implementation experiences, challenges and key learnings from the existing and emerging BHS programmes.Strengthen systems for systematic programme documentation and identify outcomes and learning that should be routinely captured.Translate research findings into actionable insights for programme and clinical teams, and identify opportunities to improve practice.Contribute to research manuscripts, reports, abstracts, presentations, case studies, guidelines, manuals and other knowledge products.Lead or contribute to scientific writing and preparation of research outputs for peer-reviewed publication and other dissemination platforms.Present research findings and programme learning to internal and external audiences, as appropriate.Contribute to field-based research activities, data collection, and coordination as required.Work collaboratively with field teams and colleagues across research, clinical and programme functions, including providing methodological and analytical inputs where relevant.Maintain high standards of research quality, ethical conduct, confidentiality and documentation.Participate in research meetings, reflection and learning processes and contribute to the development of BHS’s broader research agenda.Travel to BHS programme sites as required.Qualifications and Experience:Master’s degree in Public Health/Public Policy/Health Policy/Social Sciences/Health Management or a related discipline. A background in public policy or health policy is particularly desirable.1–2 years of experience in climate and health research, health systems research, programme research, monitoring and evaluation, policy research or a related field.Demonstrated experience in conducting field research, scientific writing and documentation, literature review, data analysis and interpretation, and dissemination of research findings.Strong academic and professional writing skills, with an interest in developing manuscripts, reports, abstracts and other research outputs.Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods.Ability to work across research, clinical and programme teams and translate between different forms of evidence and practice.Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills.Willingness to work in field settings and travel to BHS programme sites as required.Commitment to equity, dignity, integrity, excellence and collaborative ways of working.Location: You will be based in Udaipur at BHS Head office. The role requires frequent travel to project locations and regular stays at field sites across Salumbar and Udaipur districts.Remuneration:The compensation will be based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications, in alignment with industry benchmarks for similar non-governmental organizations.
