The Experienced Transport Operator is responsible for safely operating vehicles to transport containers between ports, depots, and customer locations, following all traffic and company regulations. Daily tasks include planning routes, checking loads and vehicle condition, completing delivery and collection paperwork, and coordinating schedules with the transport office. The role also involves communicating professionally with customers and colleagues, adhering to safety and compliance standards, and responding to changing operational requirements. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining high service levels through timely deliveries and proactive problem-solving.Qualifications Proven experience as a professional HGV driver or transport operator, ideally in container transport.Valid UK driving licence with appropriate HGV entitlement (e.g., Class 1) and a clean or acceptable driving record.Good knowledge of UK road networks, port operations, and transport regulations.Strong focus on safety, including vehicle checks, load security, and compliance with legal requirements.Reliable time management skills, with the ability to follow schedules and adapt to operational changes.Clear and professional communication skills for interacting with customers, colleagues, and planners.Basic numeracy and record-keeping skills for handling delivery notes, manifests, and digital systems.Ability to work independently, manage long hours when needed, and maintain professionalism under pressure.Knowledge of tachograph use and driver hours regulations; CPC qualification is highly beneficial.Willingness to follow company policies, attend training, and contribute to a respectful, inclusive workplace.
