As our client's Export Control & Defense Compliance Business Partner, you will bridge the gap between complex international trade laws and our daily operational execution. Sitting at the intersection of Engineering, Supply Chain, and Legal, you will have corporate ownership over the design, implementation, and scaling of our internal Export Control Compliance Programme.This is a high-visibility, senior advisory role. You won’t just be auditing processes; you will act as a trusted strategic partner to executive stakeholders, ensuring our international bids, dual-use technology transfers, and military equipment shipments remain entirely compliant with stringent national and international defense frameworks (including EU dual-use regulations, ITAR, and EAR). Your expertise will actively mitigate corporate risk while keeping our global defense operations moving at speed.Key responsibilitiesDesign and implement the Export Control Compliance Programme (policies, procedures, governance)Classify products and technologies (EAR, ITAR, EU Dual-Use, national regimes)-EAR : Export Administration Regulations (handles commercial items that could have military applications (dual-use).-ITAR : International Traffic in Arms Regulations (is strictly military, defense articles, services, and space-related tech.).-EU Dual-Use : European Union Dual-Use (harmonizes export controls across the European Union for items that can have both civil and military functions).-National regimes : Country-specific layers that add an extra blanket of domestic security and specific licensing requirements.Lead export licence applications and manage regulatory authoritiesMonitor regulatory developments and ensure ongoing complianceAdvise cross-functional teams and support product developmentReview contracts and ensure sanctions complianceDeliver training, conduct audits, and drive continuous improvementCandidate profile10+ years’ experience in export control (defence, aerospace, or advanced technology)Strong expertise in EAR, ITAR, EU Dual-Use, and sanctions frameworksProven experience building and implementing compliance programmesSolid classification and licensing experienceStrong stakeholder management and influencing skillsMaster’s degree in a relevant fieldFluent EnglishWhat’s on offerOpportunity to shape and lead a critical compliance functionInnovative, international environmentCompetitive salary package aligned with experienceShuttle from Lisbon, Leiria and Caldas da RainhaApply nowIf you are looking to take ownership of a strategic compliance function and make a tangible impact in a high-growth environment, we encourage you to apply and be part of this exciting journey.
