Job PurposeThe Export Manager will be responsible for developing and managing the company's international business, expanding export markets, achieving sales and profitability targets, and managing end-to-end export operations. The role will involve identifying new markets, developing distributors and customers, negotiating commercial terms, ensuring regulatory compliance, and coordinating shipments and collections.Key Responsibilities International Business Development Develop and implement export sales strategies aligned with company objectives. Identify and develop new international markets, distributors, importers, wholesalers, and retail customers. Conduct market research to identify opportunities, competitors, pricing, and consumer trends. Develop and maintain strong relationships with overseas customers and business partners. Participate in international exhibitions, trade fairs, buyer-seller meetings, and business development events. Prepare market-entry plans for new countries and territories. Sales & Business Targets Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual export sales and profitability targets. Prepare country-wise and customer-wise sales plans and forecasts. Monitor sales performance and take corrective actions where required. Negotiate prices, payment terms, MOQs, distribution agreements, and other commercial conditions. Manage customer enquiries, quotations, orders, and contract negotiations. Distributor & Customer Management Appoint and manage distributors, agents, importers, and key accounts in international markets. Monitor distributor performance against agreed targets. Develop joint business plans and promotional activities with distributors. Resolve customer complaints and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Maintain regular communication with international customers regarding orders, shipments, payments, and product requirements. Export Operations & Logistics Manage the complete export order cycle from purchase order to shipment and payment collection. Coordinate with production, planning, warehouse, quality, finance, logistics, and documentation teams. Ensure timely shipment of export orders. Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs agents, and transporters. Monitor shipping schedules, freight costs, container availability, and delivery timelines. Ensure proper handling of export documentation. Pricing & Commercial Management Prepare export pricing based on product cost, freight, duties, taxes, margins, and market conditions. Monitor international commodity, freight, and currency movements where relevant. Review profitability by country, customer, product, and shipment. Work with Finance to monitor outstanding payments and credit exposure. Ensure timely collection of export receivables. Product & Market Development Identify products suitable for different international markets. Work with Marketing and Product Development teams on market-specific products, packaging, labeling, and promotional requirements. Gather market feedback and communicate customer requirements to internal teams. Identify opportunities for new SKUs, private-label products, and customized products.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Export sales revenue Export gross margin/profitability Achievement of annual export targets New countries/markets developed Number of new distributors/customers acquired Customer retention and repeat orders Export order fulfillment and on-time shipment rate Outstanding receivables / collection efficiency Freight and logistics cost management New product/SKU development in international marketsRequired Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, International Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field. MBA/PGDM in International Business, Marketing, or related discipline is preferred. 5–10 years of relevant experience in FMCG exports, international sales, or international business. Strong knowledge of export documentation, logistics, and international trade practices.
