Apply & track with Apply EdgeJob OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on accounting experience specifically within the Food & Beverage (F&B) industry in the UAE.F&B industry experience is mandatory. Candidates without a minimum of 5 years of direct F&B accounting experience will not be considered.The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, UAE VAT compliance, payroll and WPS coordination, supplier payments, inventory accounting, food and beverage costing, POS reconciliation, and financial reporting.The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the financial and operational requirements of restaurants, cafés, bakeries, catering businesses, or other F&B operations and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial ReportingManage daily accounting transactions and maintain accurate financial records.Manage general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash accounts.Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.Perform bank, supplier, customer, and balance sheet reconciliations.Manage month-end and year-end closing procedures.Prepare accruals, prepayments, provisions, depreciation, and other accounting entries.Monitor expenses and investigate discrepancies and variances.Support management with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.UAE VAT & TaxManage UAE VAT accounting and maintain accurate VAT records.Prepare and coordinate VAT return submissions in accordance with UAE requirements.Review purchase and sales invoices for correct VAT treatment.Reconcile VAT accounts and investigate discrepancies.Maintain documentation required for tax compliance and audits.Keep up to date with applicable UAE VAT and accounting requirements.Payroll & WPSCoordinate and verify monthly payroll.Ensure payroll information is accurate and submitted within required timelines.Manage salary, allowance, deduction, overtime, and leave calculations in coordination with HR.Ensure payroll processes comply with applicable UAE WPS requirements.Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies.Supplier PaymentsVerify supplier invoices against purchase orders, delivery notes, and approvals.Maintain accurate supplier statements and reconciliations.Prepare supplier payment schedules.Monitor outstanding balances and resolve supplier discrepancies.Ensure all payments are properly authorised and documented.POS & Sales ReconciliationPerform daily reconciliation of POS sales, cash collections, card transactions, bank deposits, and accounting records.Reconcile online delivery platforms and payment gateway settlements.Investigate discrepancies in sales, cash, card, refunds, voids, discounts, and complimentary transactions.Ensure all sales are accurately recorded.Inventory & Food CostingMonitor inventory records and stock movements.Coordinate and review regular physical stock counts.Analyse inventory variances, wastage, spoilage, transfers, and adjustments.Calculate and monitor food, beverage, packaging, and production costs.Analyse actual versus theoretical food costs.Review recipe and menu costing.Work closely with chefs, purchasing, warehouse, and operations teams to control costs.Monitor gross profit margins and identify opportunities for cost improvement.Mandatory RequirementsMinimum 5 years of professional accounting experience specifically within the F&B industry.UAE F&B accounting experience is strongly preferred.Candidates with accounting experience outside F&B but without 5 years of direct F&B accounting experience will not be considered.Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Strong knowledge of UAE VAT requirements.Practical knowledge of WPS/payroll processes.Strong experience with F&B food costing, inventory, supplier reconciliation, and POS reconciliation.Experience with restaurants, cafés, bakeries, catering businesses, hotels, or multi-outlet F&B operations.Strong Excel and accounting software skills.Excellent analytical and reconciliation skills.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.High level of integrity and confidentiality.Ideal CandidateWe are specifically looking for an F&B Accountant, not a general accountant.The successful candidate should understand the complete financial cycle of an F&B operation — from purchasing and supplier invoices through inventory and food costing, POS sales, cash and card reconciliation, payroll, VAT, and monthly financial reporting.Only candidates with a minimum of 5 years of relevant F&B accounting experience will be considered.
