Faculty Position-Assistant Professor of History

The History Department at Ave Maria University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of History position to start in the 2027-2028 academic year.Preference will be given to:Candidates with expertise in a subfield of American history.Candidates who have earned a doctoral degree in History or a closely related field.Candidates with some teaching experience and a promising research agenda.Candidates equipped to contribute to the University’s Catholic identity and mission.Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for full consideration.The following documents must be submitted:- Cover Letter- Curriculum Vitae, including a list of publications- Graduate and Undergraduate University Transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable initially, official transcripts to be furnished upon request)- Teaching Philosophy as it Relates to the Apostolic Constitution Ex Corde Ecclesiae- Research Statement: Research in progress and further interests- Three Letters of Recommendation-Optional supporting materials: Sample syllabi from courses taught, course evaluationsReview of applications will begin on November 1st, 2026 and will continue until the position is filled.
