Fante Language Tutor (Remote, Contract)
AYEKOO AFRIQUE · Accra, Greater Accra Region, Ghana
Tailor my CV for this job — freeAyekoo Afrique is an online platform for learning African languages. Students take live 1-on-1 lessons with a tutor they choose themselves, and practise between lessons in the Ayekoo app. We are opening applications for Fante tutors.WHO YOUR STUDENTS AREMost are heritage learners. They grew up hearing Fante at home in Houston, London or Toronto, and they understand more than they can say. They want to greet their elders properly, follow the conversation at a family gathering, and call home without reaching for a translation app. Almost all are adults, and they arrive motivated and specific. They can usually name the exact moment they are learning for.THE ROLETwo parts, both paid.Teaching. Live 1-on-1 lessons on Google Meet, booked week by week around your availability. You teach from a curriculum of practical topics, so you are not building lessons from scratch. Our method is communicative: the student speaks from the first session, vocabulary arrives inside real situations, and grammar is explained at the moment a sentence needs it.Content. Short-form video for Ayekoo's TikTok and Instagram, roughly 2-3 pieces a month. One phrase, one proverb, one thing people always get wrong. Tutors who appear in our content get credited by name in the app, and students can find and book them from it and their hourly will be bumped.WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORNative or near-native Fante. Tell us which one. Both is a bonus, not a requirement.Fluent English. Lessons are taught in English alongside the target language, so a complete beginner is never lost.Genuine energy on camera. Our students are learning at 9pm after work. A lively teacher is not a nice-to-have here, it is the job.Comfortable being filmed and published. Your face and voice would appear on Ayekoo's public channels.Teaching experience is welcome but not required. We would rather have someone warm, patient and clear than someone with a certificate and no spark. An existing TikTok, Instagram or YouTube presence is a real advantage. Send the link.WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVEA laptop or smartphone with a working camera, and a quiet, reasonably lit place to teach and film.A stable internet connection.Availability for some evenings and weekends in GMT. Our students are mostly in the US and UK.HOW YOU ARE PAIDYou are an independent contractor, not an employee. Lessons are paid per lesson at an hourly rate agreed in your contract, currently from $10 per hour. Content you make will help bump your hourly up to $15 . Earnings accumulate in your Ayekoo balance, and once it reaches $50 you can request a withdrawal at any time, paid by bank transfer. Scheduling, bookings and collecting payment from students are all handled by the platform.APPLYING IS FREEAyekoo never charges a registration, application, placement or training fee, and nobody is authorised to collect payment on our behalf. If someone asks you to pay to teach with us, it is not us. Please report it to support@ayekooafrique.com.HOW TO APPLYApply only at ayekooafrique.com/teach/apply. That form is the only route in, and we do not accept applications by DM or email. The form asks for a short intro video. It gives you a prompt to answer. Record 45 to 60 seconds on your phone, unscripted, and upload it to YouTube as an UNLISTED video, then paste that link. YouTube links only, TikTok and Instagram links will not be accepted by the form. Do not overthink it. We are watching for how you come across, not your production quality.
